Carr Clifton
Carr Clifton (born April 17, 1957 in California) is a local American landscape, nature and wilderness photographer. A native Californian living in the northern Sierra Nevada near Taylorsville, California, Carr began photographing and color printing professionally in 1979 after seeking advice and inspiration from his mentor and neighbor, pioneering 20th century master landscape and conservation photographer Philip Hyde. Credits include a US Postal Service stamp of Acadia National Park and numerous exhibit format books. Clifton has spent thirty-five years exploring and documenting endangered, wild landscapes, creating an immense body of work with a large format 4x5 film camera, and more recently a digital camera. A member of the International League of Conservation Photographers (iLCP), Clifton has worked extensively with local, national and international conservation organizations helping to communicate important conservation objectives. Carr Baker Neel (1873-1949) was an American male tennis player who was active in the late 19th century. Tennis career In 1896 Carr Neel won the men's doubles title at the U.S. National Championships. Together with his brother Sam Neel they were victorious over defending champions Robert Wrenn and Malcolm Chace. In 1896 he won the Western Tennis Championship beating George Wrenn in the final. In 1899 he again won the tournament by defeating John Allen in the final and winning against Kreigh Collins in the challenge round. They were the first Californians to win a title at the U.S. Championships. Carr Vattal Van Anda (December 2, 1864 – January 29, 1945) was the managing editor of ''The New York Times'' under Adolph Ochs, from 1904 to 1932. Biography Van Anda was born in Georgetown, Ohio to Frederick Van Anda and Mariah Davis. He moved to New York in order to become a journalist and editor. Beginning at the ''New York Sun'' he moved to ''The New York Times'' in 1904. Van Anda was an academic, studying astronomy and physics at Ohio University, and started in journalism at '' The Cleveland Herald and Gazette'' and later ''The Baltimore Sun'' before being picked up by Adolph Simon Ochs, who valued intelligent and accurate news reporting.
