Caroline Powell (born 14 March 1973) is a New Zealand equestrian. The first event, the ... she won the bronze medal in Team eventing. She was born in Lower Hutt, New Zealand and lives in Suffolk, East Anglia. Powell has represented New Zealand in two Olympic Games and two World Games, where she won a bronze team medal in 2010. Also in 2010, she won the Burghley Horse Trials. Equestrian At The Summer Olympics
Equestrian sports were first included in the Olympic Games in the Equestrian at the 1900 Summer Olympics, Summer Olympics of 1900 in Paris. They were again included in 1912, and have been included in every subsequent edition of the Games. The Olympic equestrian disciplines are dressage, eventing, and show-jumping. In each discipline, both individual and team medals are awarded. Women and men compete on equal terms. Together with the equestrian component of Modern Pentathlon, it is the only Olympic event that involves animals. The horses are considered to be athletes as much as the riders. The international governing body for equestrian sports is the Fédération Équestre Internationale. The first Olympics held under its authority were in 1924.
