Carolanne Pegg
Carole Pegg, sometimes Carolanne Pegg, is a British folksinger and violinist, and ethnomusicologist. In 1970 Pegg and her husband Bob formed British folk rock band Mr. Fox Mr Fox were an early 1970s British folk rock band. They were seen as in the 'second generation' of British folk rock performers and for a time were compared with Steeleye Span and Sandy Denny's Fotheringay.K. Dallas‘Electric Folk The Second ..., which dissolved in 1972 when their marriage ended. In 1973 she released a solo album, ''Carolanne'', with Transatlantic Records, and briefly performed with Graham Bond and Pete Macbeth as ''Magus''. Pegg went on to obtain a doctorate in musicology and become a senior researcher in the music department of Cambridge University. Pegg's second husband is the Social Anthropologist Dr Nicholas James. Ethnomusicology is the study of music from the cultural and social aspects of the people who make it. It encompasses distinct theoretical and methodical approaches that emphasize cultural, social, material, cognitive, biological, and other dimensions or contexts of musical behavior, in addition to the sound component. Within musical ethnography it is the first-hand personal study of musicking as known as the act of taking part in a musical performance. Folklore studies, Folklorists, who began preserving and studying folklore music in Europe and the US in the 19th century, are considered the precursors of the field prior to the World War II, Second World War.
