Carolanne D'Astous-Paquet (born 24 December 1990 at Sayabec, Québec, Canada) is a Québécoise singer known for appearing on the 2009 edition of reality TV competition '' Star Académie''. Biography Carolanne D'Astous-Paquet enrolled in her first singing lessons at age 8. She played hockey in a boys' league when she was 7 to 10 years old. In high school, she took part in a total immersion exchange program in British Columbia and developed a love for travel. In 2007, she won the Tremplin de Dégelis (English: Springboard of Dégelis, a music and humour festival) in the 13–17 age group. That same year, she won the Trois-Pistoles song contest in the 16-and-over category. Carolanne Marie "Candie" Carawan () (born 1939) is an American civil rights activist, singer and author known for popularizing the protest song "We Shall Overcome" to the American Civil Rights Movement with her husband Guy Carawan in the 1960s. Early life Carawan was born to Howard and Lois Anderson in Los Angeles, California in 1939. Her father was a petroleum and environmental geologist. She attended Pomona College and was interested in the civil rights movement. In her junior year, she became an exchange student to Fisk University, a historically black college in Nashville. She said, "I learned about southern black people, racism, nonviolence, police, jail, southern courts; I met brilliant people like James Lawson" She participated in the black students' demonstrations to integrate the schools there. Carolane Soucisse (born February 10, 1995) is a Canadian ice dancer. With her skating partner, Shane Firus, she is the 2018 Four Continents silver medallist. They have finished third at the 2020 Canadian Championships and represented Canada on the Grand Prix circuit and at the World Championships. She previously competed with Alexandre Laliberté and Benjamin Smyth in the novice and junior ranks and Simon Tanguay in the junior and senior ranks.
