Carol Dartora
Ana Carolina Moura Melo Dartora, known as Carol Dartora (born 1 May 1983), is a Brazilian politician, teacher, historian, trade unionist and member of the Workers' Party (PT). She is currently a congresswoman for the state of Paraná, Brazil, having been elected at the 2022 Brazilian general election. She made history becoming the first black woman elected as councilwoman of Curitiba, in 2020, and as congresswoman in Brazil, for the state of Paraná, in 2022. Public life Dartora holds a degree in History from the Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ), and she is also a specialist in Philosophy from the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), a Master in Education from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) and a doctoral candidate in Technology and Society from the Federal University of Technology (UTFPR). Chamber Of Deputies (Brazil)
The Chamber of Deputies ( pt, Câmara dos Deputados) is a federal legislative body and the lower house of the National Congress of Brazil. The chamber comprises 513 deputies, who are elected by proportional representation to serve four-year terms. The current President of the Chamber is the Deputy Arthur Lira ( PP- AL), who was elected on 1 February 2021. Structure The number of deputies elected is proportional to the size of the population of the respective state (or of the Federal District) as of 1994. However, no delegation can be made up of less than eight or more than seventy seats. Thus the least populous state elects eight federal deputies and the most populous elects seventy. These restrictions favour the smaller states at the expense of the more populous states and so the size of the delegations is not exactly proportional to population. 2020 Curitiba Mayoral Election
The 2020 Curitiba municipal election took place in the city of Curitiba, Brazil, with the first round taking place on 15 November 2020. Voters elected a mayor, a vice mayor and 38 councillors who are responsible for the city administration. Their respective terms began on 1 January 2021 and will end on 31 December 2024. The incumbent mayor is Rafael Greca, a member of the former party Democrats (Brazil), Democrats (DEM), who was able to run for reelection. The elections were initially scheduled to happen on 4 October 2020 (first round), and in case of a second round, it would happen on 25 October 2020. Black is a racialized classification of people, usually a political and skin color-based category for specific populations with a mid to dark brown complexion. Not all people considered "black" have dark skin; in certain countries, often in socially based systems of racial classification in the Western world, the term "black" is used to describe persons who are perceived as dark-skinned compared to other populations. Racial Quota
Racial quotas in employment and education are numerical requirements for hiring, promoting, admitting and/or graduating members of a particular Race (classification of human beings), racial group. Racial quotas are often established as means of diminishing racial discrimination, addressing under-representation and evident racism against those racial groups or, the opposite, against the disadvantaged majority group (see ''numerus clausus'' or ''Bumiputera (Malaysia), bhumiputra'' systems). Conversely, quotas have also been used historically to promote discrimination against minority groups by limiting access to influential institutions in employment and education. These quotas may be determined by governmental authority and backed by governmental sanctions.
