Carneau
The Carneau is a breed of pigeon developed over many years of selective breeding primarily as a utility pigeon. Carneau, along with other varieties of domesticated pigeons, are all descendants from the rock pigeon (''Columba livia''). The breed is known for large size and suitability for squab production. White Carneau pigeons are extensively used in experiments on operant conditioning; most of the pigeons used in B. F. Skinner's original work on schedules of reinforcement were White Carneaux.Ferster, C. B., & Skinner, B. F. (1957). ''Schedules of reinforcement''. List Of Pigeon Breeds
This is an alphabetical list of pigeon breeds. Pigeons and doves are members of the bird family Columbidae. Doves tend to be smaller and pigeons larger, although this distinction is not consistently applied. The birds listed here are breeds of the domestic pigeon (''Columba livia domestica''). Other Columbidae species (e.g., the domesticated Barbary dove, ''Streptopelia risoria'') have been developed into breeds, but these are generally simple colour variations.
