Carlton Kids
Carlton Kids was a British digital terrestrial pay television kids channel, provided by Carlton Television, which started broadcasting in November 1998 and closed in February 2000. Its sister channels were Carlton Food Network, Carlton World, Carlton Cinema and Carlton Select. It broadcast exclusively on ONdigital, the digital terrestrial pay-TV platform backed by Carlton and Granada, where it timeshared on channel 34 with Carlton World. The channel had limited coverage, reaching only 69% of the population via the lowest-powered terrestrial multiplex D, and newspapers and listings magazines were slow to feature the channel's programming. In the face of competition from several other dedicated children's channels in the UK market the channel ceased broadcasting at the end of January 2000 after 2 years, partly due to the limited uptake of the ONdigital platform where it was exclusively available, where the channel was replaced with Discovery Kids and Discovery Wings. Discovery Kids (British And Irish TV Channel)
Discovery Kids was a British and Irish pay television channel. The channel initially began broadcasting exclusively on the On Digital service time sharing with Discovery Wings, an aviation-focused channel similarly created initially as an On Digital exclusive. The channel eventually became available on other digital platforms such as Sky Digital, and Virgin Media. Discovery Kids and Discovery Wings were both closed down at midnight on 28 February 2007, to be replaced by Discovery Turbo the following day. Discovery Kids was replaced with an online broadband video service called Discovery Kids On Demand, not updated since the closure of the TV channel. ''The Legends of Treasure Island'' is a British animated television series. It had two series of 13 episodes each and each episode runs for 22–25 minutes. The series was loosely based on Robert Louis Stevenson's original 1883 novel ''Treasure Island''. Featuring a mysterious and dark storyline, it incorporates magic and many new characters. ''Willo the Wisp'' is a British cartoon series originally produced in 1981 by the BBC and narrated by Kenneth Williams. It became popular with children and adults, as it bridged the gap between the end of weekday children's programming and the early evening news. A second series was produced in 2005. First series (1981) The series was written and directed by Nick Spargo and produced by Nicholas Cartoon Films, in association with the BBC and Tellytales Enterprises. The character of Willo the Wisp originated in an educational animation created by Spargo for British Gas plc in 1975 and the stories were set in Doyley Woods, a small beech wood in Oxfordshire, near the director's home. Tickle On The Tum
''Tickle on the Tum'' is a series of ten-minute programmes for young children produced by Granada Television and aired on the ITV network from 1984 until 1988. The series was set in the General Store and Post Office in the fictional village of Tickle-on-the-Tum (the humorous double-meaning of the title was explained obliquely in the theme song). The original presenters were folk-singer Ralph McTell, fresh from his stint on Granada's other children's series Alphabet Zoo, and Danusia Harwood. From about the middle of the second series, Harwood was replaced by Jacqueline Reddin. In the final series, the setting changed to the newly opened Tickle Broadcasting Corporation (TBC) studios. ''The Berenstain Bears'' is an animated comedy television series based on the children's book series of the same name by Stan and Jan Berenstain, produced by Southern Star Productions/Hanna Barbera Australia. ''Tots TV'' is a British children's television programme, produced by Ragdoll Productions and Central. The series was first telecast in the UK on the ITV network (part of CITV) from 1993 to 1998. Development ''Tots TV'' was written by two of its puppeteers, Robin Stevens (Tom) and Andrew Davenport (Tiny). ''The Raggy Dolls'' is a 1986-1994 British cartoon series which originally aired on ITV. The series is set in Mr Grimes' Toy Factory, where imperfect dolls are thrown into a reject bin. ''Mopatop's Shop'' is a children's television series that which premiered on CITV in the UK on 4 January 1999. 260 ten-minute episodes were made and aired daily. It was a co-production between Jim Henson Television and Carlton Television. After it finished its run in 2005 it was repeated for several years afterwards until 2010. ITV Yorkshire, previously known as Yorkshire Television and commonly referred to as just YTV, is the British television service provided by ITV Broadcasting Limited for the Yorkshire franchise area on the ITV network.
