Carlton Hill (Erie Railroad Station)
Carlton Hill Station is a pastoral lease and cattle station located in the Kimberley (Western Australia), Kimberley region of Western Australia. Situated approximately to the north-west of Kununurra, Western Australia, Kununurra and east of Wyndham, Western Australia, Wyndham, the station covers an area of . The property lies on the land of the Gajirrawoong and Miriwung peoples, whose native title in Australia, native title was recognised by the Federal Court of Australia in 2006. Patrick Durack
Patrick Durack (March 1834 – 20 January 1898) was a pastoral pioneer in Western Australia. His family were struggling tenant farmers from Magherareagh near Scarriff in County Clare, Ireland, who moved from Ireland to New South Wales in 1853. Two months after arriving in New South Wales, his father, Michael was killed accidentally. He settled his mother and siblings, and moved to Victoria, returning 18 months later with £1000. On 31 July 1862 Durack married Mary Costello, only daughter of Michael Costello, a native of County Tipperary, and his wife Mary Tully, a native of County Galway. Patrick and Mary had eight children (two of whom died in infancy), including Michael Durack. Goulburn provided insufficient outlets for Durack's energy, land hunger and organizing powers. Hoochery Distillery
Hoochery Distillery is a farm-based microdistillery located in Kununurra, Western Australia, founded by Raymond Bernard "Spike" Dessert III. The distillery produces approximately 50,000 gallons of rum annually, and also produces gin, whiskey and liqueurs. It is the oldest continually operating legal distillery in Western Australia. History Raymond Bernard "Spike" Dessert III founded the farm business R.B. Dessert Seed Co. in 1986. To diversify, he opened the Hoochery Distillery in 1995, producing rums. Dessert died in December 2017. Dessert's daughter, Kalyn Fletcher, now runs the company. Production Hoochery rums are produced from local sugar cane and molasses. A homestead is an isolated dwelling, especially a farmhouse, and adjacent outbuildings, typically on a large agricultural holding such as a ranch or station.
