Carlos Valdez (baseball)
Carlos Luis Lorenzo Valdez (born December 26, 1971) is a former middle relief pitcher in Major League Baseball who played in part of two seasons for the San Francisco Giants () and Boston Red Sox (). He also played in Japan for the Kintetsu Buffaloes (). Listed at 5' 11", 191 lb., he batted and threw right-handed. His older brother, Efrain Valdez, also pitched in the major leagues. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk.
