Carlos Pinto (footballer)
José Carlos Alves Ferreira Pinto (born 2 March 1973) is a Portuguese former footballer who played as a midfielder, currently a manager. Playing career Born in Paços de Ferreira, Pinto began his senior career at Rebordosa A.C. of the third division in 1991. A year later, he returned to his parent club F.C. Paços de Ferreira, making one substitute appearance in each of his two Primeira Liga seasons. Besides four matches – one start – for S.C. Salgueiros in the top tier in the 1998–99 campaign, Pinto spent most of his career in the lower leagues, representing Associação Naval 1º de Maio, C.D. Feirense and G.D. Chaves in the Segunda Liga over six seasons (21 as a senior overall). Coaching career Pinto's first managerial job was at F.C. Tirsense in the third level in 2012. Paços de Ferreira () is a city in the Porto District, in the north of Portugal. The population of the city in 2011 was 7491, while its municipality had 56,340 inhabitants, in an area of 70.99 km². The Taça de Portugal (; "Cup of Portugal") is an annual association football competition and the premier knockout tournament in Portuguese football. For sponsorship reasons, it has been known as Taça de Portugal Placard since the 2015–16 season. Organised by the Portuguese Football Federation since it was first held in 1938, the competition is open to professional and amateur clubs from the top-four league divisions. Matches are played from August–September to May–June, and the final is traditionally held at the Estádio Nacional in Oeiras, near Lisbon. ''Record'' is a Portuguese sports newspaper, founded by Manuel Dias, published in Lisbon. Although it covers most sports, football is the focal point of it, and almost always is the only sport referred to on the cover. History and profile ''Record'' was founded by Manuel Dias. Dias was a newspaper vendor as well an athlete. Dias participated the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany. In 1949, Dias would enter the national lottery in Portugal and would win 40 contos. The 2018–19 Taça de Portugal (also known as Taça de Portugal Placard for sponsorship reasons) was the 79th edition of the Taça de Portugal, the premier knockout competition in Portuguese football. The competition began with first-round matches on 8 September 2018 and concluded with the final on 25 May 2019. This edition was contested by 144 clubs, including teams from the top three tiers of the Portuguese football league system and representatives of the fourth-tier District leagues and cups.
