Carlo Rovelli
Carlo Rovelli (born May 3, 1956) is an Italian theoretical physicist and writer who has worked in Italy, the United States and, since 2000, in France. He is also currently a Distinguished Visiting Research Chair at the Perimeter Institute, and core member of the Rotman Institute of Philosophy of the Western University. He works mainly in the field of quantum gravity and is a founder of loop quantum gravity theory. He has also worked in the history and philosophy of science. He collaborates with several Italian newspapers, including the cultural supplements of the ''Corriere della Sera'', '' Il Sole 24 Ore'' and ''La Repubblica''. His popular science book, ''Seven Brief Lessons on Physics'', was originally published in Italian in 2014. It has been translated into 41 languages and has sold over a million copies worldwide. Loop Quantum Gravity
Loop quantum gravity (LQG) is a theory of quantum gravity, which aims to merge quantum mechanics and general relativity, incorporating matter of the Standard Model into the framework established for the pure quantum gravity case. It is an attempt to develop a quantum theory of gravity based directly on Einstein's geometric formulation rather than the treatment of gravity as a force. As a theory LQG postulates that the structure of Spacetime, space and time is composed of finite loops woven into an extremely fine fabric or network. These networks of loops are called spin networks. The evolution of a spin network, or spin foam, has a scale above the order of a Planck length, approximately 10−35 meters, and smaller scales are meaningless. Enrico Palandri
Enrico Palandri (b. Venice 1956) is an Italian academic, writer and translator. Biography Palandri graduated with a degree in Dramaturgy from the DAMS (The Disciplines of Art, Music and Theatre) school at the University of Bologna, where he studied with Gianni Celati, Giuliano Scabia and Umberto Eco. During the Movement of 1977 in Italy, he curated a book on Radio Alice, ''Fatti Nostri'' with Carlo Rovelli, Maurizio Torrealta and Claudio Piersanti. Palandri’s first novel, ''Boccalone'', is also set in Bologna during this same timeframe. The novel was published in 1979 through L’erba voglio press, run by Elvio Fachinelli, and then republished various times by Feltrinelli and Bompiani. Palandri moved to London in 1980, where he worked as a language coach for the Royal Opera House and as a journalist (collaborating with RAI, the BBC and numerous newspapers). Radio Alice
Radio Alice was an Italian free radio broadcasting from Bologna at the end of the 1970s. It started transmitting on 9 February 1976 using an ex-military transmitter on a frequency of 100.6 MHz. The station founders were associated with the Italian counter-culture movement of 1977 and drew inspiration from the Situationists and Dada. Franco "Bifo" Berardi, one of the founders, described Radio Alice as a "mix between a classical medium of militant information and a sort of art experiment in media sabotage." The station was closed by the ''carabinieri'' on 12 March 1977. Radio Alice then re-opened again for two years and became politically aligned with the autonomism movement. Istituto Maffei, officially called Liceo Ginnasio di Stato 'Scipione Maffei', is one of the oldest high school in Italy. It is situated in the center of Verona in northern Italy. It is a grammar school, with students who focus on the classics and can choose different paths: communication, or languages.
