Carlo Covi
Carlo Covi (Padua, 29 November 1961) is a Venetist and social-democratic politician from Veneto, Italy. He entered politics in 1995 when he was elected to the Municipal Council of Padua as an independent Democrat of the Left. In 1999 he joined the Italian Democratic Socialists (SDI), was re-elected to the Municipal Council and became the local leader of the party. Re-elected in 2004, in the 2005 regional election Covi was elected member of the Regional Council of Veneto in the Province of Padua for The Olive Tree. As soon as 2006 he left the SDI in order to launch his own political party, Venetian Agreement, whose name reflected his shift toward Venetism. In 2009 he was candidate for Mayor of Padua for Venetian Agreement and North-East Project. Padua
Padua ( ; it, Padova ; vec, Pàdova) is a city and ''comune'' in Veneto, northern Italy. Padua is on the river Bacchiglione, west of Venice. It is the capital of the province of Padua. It is also the economic and communications hub of the area. Padua's population is 214,000 (). The city is sometimes included, with Venice (Italian ''Venezia'') and Treviso, in the Padua-Treviso-Venice Metropolitan Area (PATREVE) which has a population of around 2,600,000. World Rally Championship
The World Rally Championship (abbreviated as WRC) is the highest level of global competition in the motorsport discipline of rallying, owned and governed by the FIA. There are separate championships for drivers, co-drivers, manufacturers and teams. The series currently consists of 13 three to four-day rally events driven on surfaces ranging from gravel and tarmac to snow and ice. Each rally is usually split into 15–25 special stages which are run against the clock on up to 350 kilometres of closed roads. Drivers Sébastien Loeb, Sébastien Ogier, Juha Kankkunen, Tommi Mäkinen and Colin McRae all became WRC champions. Venetian nationalism (also Venetism, from the Venetian/Italian name, ''venetismo'') is a nationalist, but primarily regionalist, political movement active mostly in Veneto, Italy, as well as in other parts of the former Republic of Venice. Generally speaking, Venetists promote the distinct Venetian identity and the rediscovery of the Republic of Venice's heritage, traditions, culture, and language and/or demand more autonomy or even independence for Veneto from Italy. North-East Project
North-East Project ( it, Progetto NordEst, PNE) is a Venetist, fiscal federalist and libertarian Italian political party based in Veneto, demanding larger autonomy, if not complete independence for the region. History The party was founded in June 2004 by Giorgio Panto, along with former members of the Liga Veneta– Lega Nord (LV–LN) and former members of Liga Fronte Veneto, notably Mariangelo Foggiato and Ettore Beggiato. Panto himself had been a long-time supporter of Lega Nord, but he distanced from it as he perceived it to be too moderate and Lombardy-centred.
