Carla Werner
Carla Werner is a singer and songwriter from New Zealand who began her music career at age 11. At age 12 she won the New Zealand Junior Entertainer of the Year for country music, and went on to win the junior category of New Zealand's first televised talent show 'Telequest' in 1986, hosted by Mark Leishman and judged by Ray Columbus. After migrating to Australia in 1989, and moving to Sydney in 1992, she joined The Cool Tin Box in 1994, a short-lived acoustic-rock quintet formed by Matt Rankin and ex Go-Between Lindy Morrison on drums featuring lead guitarist Tim Cooper. When they disbanded the following year, she and Cooper began performing together as an acoustic duo, before Werner went out on her own to perform original music. Ray Columbus
Raymond John Patrick Columbus (4 November 1942 – 29 November 2016) was a New Zealand Benny Award-winning singer and songwriter, television host, music manager and entertainer, with a career spanning six decades. As the lead singer of Ray Columbus & the Invaders, his best-known hit was "She's A Mod". Early years Columbus attended Xavier College in Christchurch, studied tap, but was more interested in the rock 'n' roll of the era and formed his first band, The Dominoes, in 1959. Based in a church hall, in Addington, Christchurch, the band put on Saturday night dances. Often in the last bracket of songs for the night, Columbus would throw a big sombrero hat down on the floor and dance around it while the band played the Mexican Hat Dance. Damien Rice
Damien George Rice (born 7 December 1973) is an Irish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He began his career as a member of the 1990s rock group Juniper, who were signed to Polygram Records in 1997. The band enjoyed moderate success in Ireland with two released singles, "The World is Dead" and "Weatherman". After leaving the band in 1998, Rice worked as a farmer in Tuscany and busked throughout Europe before returning to Ireland in 2001 and beginning a solo career. Jeffrey Scott Buckley (November 17, 1966 – May 29, 1997), raised as Scott Moorhead, was an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Cowboy Junkies are an alternative country and folk rock band formed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1985 by Alan Anton (bassist), Michael Timmins (songwriter, guitarist), Peter Timmins (drummer) and Margo Timmins (vocalist). The three Timminses are siblings, and Anton worked with Michael Timmins during their first couple of bands. Mazzy Star is an American alternative rock band formed in 1988 in Santa Monica, California, from remnants of the group Opal. Founding member David Roback's friend Hope Sandoval became the group's vocalist when Kendra Smith left Opal.
