Carla Taylor (born April 29, 1961) was the head women's basketball coach at Weber State University. In 23 seasons as a head coach A head coach, senior coach or manager is a professional at training and developing athletes. In some sports, the head coach is instead called the "manager", as in assoc ..., she has amassed a 308-341 record, including a 180-170 mark in Big Sky play. She owns the second most wins in Big Sky history. She was hired as one of the youngest college coach in the nation at age 26. She played basketball at Weber State on the 1982 team that went to the WNIT tournament. She ranks 12th in school history in points scored with 1122, and ninth in assists with 301. In 2015, Taylor was honored by the Utah Sports Hall of Fame Foundation and was inducted as a Utah Coach of Merit at the spring induction banquet. Weber State University (pronounced ) is a public university in Ogden, Utah. It was founded in 1889 as Weber Stake Academy. It is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. History Weber State University was founded by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as the Weber Stake Academy in 1889. Big Sky Conference Women's Basketball Tournament
The Big Sky Conference women's basketball tournament is held at the end of each women's college basketball regular season. The tournament was first conducted by the Big Sky Conference at the end of the 1988–89 season, the first in which the conference sponsored women's sports. The Big Sky includes in its history the preceding six years of the Mountain West Athletic Conference, a women's athletic league consisting mostly of Big Sky members that operated from 1982 to 1988, so the inaugural tournament was in March 1983. Women's National Invitation Tournament
The Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) is a women's national college basketball tournament with a preseason and postseason version played every year. It is operated in a similar fashion to the men's college National Invitation Tournament (NIT) and NIT Season Tip-Off. Unlike the NIT, the women's tournament is not run by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), but is an independent national championship. Triple Crown Sports, a company based in Fort Collins, Colorado that specializes in the promotion of amateur sporting events, created the WNIT in 1994 as a preseason counterpart to the then-current National Women's Invitational Tournament (NWIT). In baseball, an assist (denoted by A) is a defensive statistic, baseball being one of the few sports in which the ''defensive'' team controls the ball. An assist is credited to every defensive player who fields or touches the ball (after it has been hit by the batter) prior to the recording of a putout, even if the contact was unintentional.
