Carla P. Catterall
Carla Perdita Catterall (born 1951) is an Australian ecologist and ornithologist. As of 2021 she is Emeritus Professor at Griffith University. Career Born in 1951, Catterall graduated from the University of Queensland with a PhD in 1979. Her thesis, titled "Behavioural strategies of a silvereye population, ('' Zosterops lateralis chlorocephala'' Campbell and White), in relation to food resources, on a coral cay island", was published by the Royal Australian Ornithologists Union in 1982. In 2010 Catterall won the D. L. Serventy Medal in recognition of her "outstanding contributions to publication in the science of ornithology in the Australasian region". At the time of her award she was an associate professor at Griffith University and had "served on 13 advisory bodies and written 33 consultancy reports for local, state and commonwealth governments, community groups and private industry". Griffith University
Griffith University is a public research university in South East Queensland on the east coast of Australia. Formally founded in 1971, Griffith opened its doors in 1975, introducing Australia's first degrees in environmental science and Asian studies. Capricorn Silvereye
The Capricorn silvereye (''Zosterops lateralis chlorocephalus''), also known as the Capricorn white-eye or green-headed white-eye, is a small greenish bird in the Zosteropidae or white-eye family. It is a subspecies of the silvereye that occurs on islands off the coast of Queensland in north-eastern Australia, and which is sometimes considered to be a full species. Description The Capricorn silvereye is the only bird endemic to the Great Barrier Reef. It was first described by Archibald Campbell and Samuel White in ''The Emu'' from specimens collected during an expedition by the Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union to the Capricorn Group in October 1910. Noisy Miner
The noisy miner (''Manorina melanocephala'') is a bird in the honeyeater family, Meliphagidae, and is endemic to eastern and southeastern Australia. This miner is a grey bird, with a black head, orange-yellow beak and feet, a distinctive yellow patch behind the eye, and white tips on the tail feathers. The Tasmanian race has a more intense yellow panel in the wing, and a broader white tip to the tail. Males, females and juveniles are similar in appearance, though young birds are a brownish-grey. As the common name suggests, the noisy miner is a vocal species with a large range of songs, calls, scoldings and alarms, and almost constant vocalisations, particularly from young birds. One of four species in the genus ''Manorina'', the noisy miner itself is divided into four subspecies.
