Carl Ueter
Carl Ueter (sometimes also ''Karl Ueter''; 18 January 1900 – 30 September 1985) was a German composer of classical music. From 1950 to his retirement in 1965 he was professor at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg. Life and work Ueter was born in Münster, where he studied Christian music at the Bischöfliche Kirchenmusikschule (Episcopal Church Music School) from 1915 to 1918. During these years he was also organist at different churches in Münster. He worked as a teacher for Gregorian musicology, music theory and violin at the Bischöfliche Kirchenmusikschule after the completion of his studies, but attended the composition class of Fritz Volbach at the University of Münster further on. In the year 1921 Carl Ueter was accepted as a student of the composition master class of Franz Schreker at the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin and among his fellow students were Alois Haba, Berthold Goldschmidt, Max Brand and Jerzy Fitelberg. Werner Jacob
Werner Jacob (4 March 1938 – 23 May 2006) was a German organist, composer and academic. Career Werner Fritz Hermann Herbert Jacob was born in Mengersgereuth, Thuringia. He studied at the Musikhochschule Freiburg to 1961, organ with Walter Kraft, harpsichord, composition with Wolfgang Fortner, and conducting with Carl Ueter. He studied organ also privately with Anton Nowakowski. Jacob was the church musician at St. Sebald in Nuremberg from 1969 to 1991. He was from 1985 to 2003 the artistic director of the (ION, International week of organ music). Jacob was professor of artistic organ playing (''Künstlerisches Orgelspiel'') at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart from 1976 to 1998. He was a composer in many genres. Franz Konwitschny
Franz Konwitschny (14 August 1901, Fulnek, Moravia – 28 July 1962, Belgrade) was a German conductor and violist of Moravian descent. He started his career on the viola,Schwinger playing in the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra under Wilhelm Furtwängler. In 1925, he moved to Vienna, where he played the viola with the Fitzner Quartet. He also began teaching at the Wiener Volkskonservatorium. He later became a conductor, joining the Stuttgart Opera in 1927. From 1949 until his death he was principal conductor of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra. From 1953 until 1955 he was also principal conductor of the Dresden Staatskapelle and from 1955 onward he led the Berlin State Opera. Like Furtwängler, Konwitschny used "expansive gestures" and had a "dislike of an exact beat." Konwitschny recorded a complete cycle of Beethoven symphonies. The Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra (Gewandhausorchester; also previously known in German as the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig) is a German symphony orchestra based in Leipzig, Germany. The orchestra is named after the concert hall in which it is based, the Gewandhaus ("Garment House"). In addition to its concert duties, the orchestra also performs frequently in the Thomaskirche and as the official opera orchestra of the Leipzig Opera. History The orchestra's origins can be traced to 1743, when a society called the ''Grosses Concert'' began performing in private homes. In 1744 the ''Grosses Concert'' moved its concerts to the "Three Swans" Tavern. Their concerts continued at this venue for 36 years, until 1781. Bad Krozingen (; Alemannic: ''Bad Chrotzige'') is a spa town in the district Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald, in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is situated 15 km southwest of Freiburg. In the 1970s, the previously independent villages Biengen, Hausen an der Möhlin, Schlatt and Tunsel, including Schmidhofen, became part of Bad Krozingen. Fritz Wunderlich
Friedrich "Fritz" Karl Otto Wunderlich (26 September 1930 – 17 September 1966) was a German lyric tenor, famed for his singing of the Mozart repertory and various lieder. He died in an accident aged 35. Biography Wunderlich was born in Kusel in the Palatinate, Germany. His mother was a violinist and his father was a choirmaster. For a short time, the family kept the inn "Emrichs Bräustübl" (Emrich's Brewing Cottage). Fritz's father lost his job due to pressure imposed upon him by local Nazis, in addition to suffering from a severe battlefield injury. He died by suicide when Fritz was five years old. Fritz mastered several instruments while still a schoolboy and when he entered the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg in 1950, his principal study was the horn. Then the singing teacher discovered and trained his voice.
