The Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach Chamber Orchestra (German: ''Kammerorchester Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach'') was a German chamber orchestra, founded in 1969 in Berlin, dedicated to the music of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach and his contemporaries. History What was to become the Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach Chamber Orchestra was formed comprising members of the Staatskapelle Berlin in 1969 by composer Jean Kurt Forest with the support of the general manager of the Staatsoper Hans Pischner, with the aim of performing contemporary music. Jean Kurt Forest was succeeded as artistic director by Dieter-Gerhard Worm. In 1980, following the initial collaboration with Hartmut Haenchen and then his appointment as artistic director, this specialist modern music orchestra changed its profile to concentrate on early classical repertoire, in particular that of the composer it was named after and his contemporaries. Konzerthaus Berlin
The Konzerthaus Berlin is a concert hall in Berlin, the home of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin. Situated on the Gendarmenmarkt square in the central Mitte district of the city, it was originally built as a theater. It initially operated from 1818 to 1821 under the name of the Schauspielhaus Berlin, then as the Theater am Gendarmenmarkt and Komödie. It became a concert hall after the Second World War, and its name changed to its present one in 1994. The Konzerthausorchester Berlin is the resident orchestra of the Konzerthaus Berlin. Christine Schäfer
Christine Schäfer (born 3 March 1965) is a German operatic soprano. Biography Schäfer was born in Frankfurt. She studied from 1984 until 1991 at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin, where her teachers were Ingrid Figur, Aribert Reimann and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. She also took master classes with Arleen Augér and Sena Jurinac. After finishing her studies in 1992, Schäfer began singing at the opera house in Innsbruck. The next year she made her debut in the United States, singing Sophie in ''Der Rosenkavalier'' in San Francisco. In 1995, she performed to great acclaim during the Salzburg Festival as the title role in Berg's ''Lulu'', a part she would later sing at the Metropolitan Opera and at Glyndebourne. Christina Landshamer (born 1977) is a German operatic soprano. Life and career Born and raised in Munich, Landshamer studied singing at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München with Angelica Vogel from 1996. She continued her studies at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart in Konrad Richter's Lied class and the soloist class with Dunja Vejzovic. Christine Schornsheim, married name Christine Engelmayr (born in 1959), is a German harpsichordist and pianist. Life and career Schornsheim attended the from 1969 to 1976 and studied piano at the local Berlin University of the Arts until 1982. From 1982 to 1983 she was solo ''répétiteur'' at the Hans Otto Theater in Potsdam. She participated in master classes given by Gustav Leonhardt, Ton Koopman, Johann Sonnleitner and Andreas Staier. She made her debut in 1994 as a song accompanist to Peter Schreier also on the fortepiano. From 1988 to 1992 she held a teaching position for harpsichord and basso continuo at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig, where she was appointed professor for harpsichord and fortepiano in 1992. Eckart Haupt
Eckart Haupt (born 2 November 1945) is a German flutist and university teacher. The Staatskapelle Dresden described him on their homepage as one of the "leading flutists of the present". Life Born in Zittau, Saxony, Haupt grew up in Görlitz. He later studied in Dresden with Fritz Rucker (flute) and Manfred Weiss, as well as musical composition in the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig with Erich List (flute). He had his first jobs in Dessau and Berlin. In 1970, he was engaged by Kurt Masur as solo flutist of the Dresden Philharmonic. In 1981 he got an engagement as principal flutist of the Staatskapelle Dresden by Herbert Blomstedt, where he played until his retirement in 2010. The Berliner Philharmonie () is a concert hall in Berlin, Germany, and home to the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. The Philharmonie lies on the south edge of the city's Tiergarten and just west of the former Berlin Wall.
