Carl Groszmann
Carl Arnold Groszmann was an Australian songwriter and musician. Also performing as 'Carl Keats', he was the guitarist in the 1960s Australian group Steve & the Board, which included Steve Kipner and Colin Petersen. Groszmann was studying law in Brisbane when he joined Steve & the Board, and became the group's primary songwriter. The group moved from Brisbane to Sydney, and then Melbourne. After the break-up of Steve & the Board in 1967 in Australia, several members including Groszmann relocated to London. Groszmann eventually joined Kipner's new group Tin Tin, and played on their second album ''Astral Taxi'' (1971). In 1975 Groszmann signed to Ringo Starr's own record label Ring O' Records. He is most notable for his song " A Dose of Rock and Roll" which was covered by Starr on the 1976 album ''Ringo's Rotogravure''. Stephen Alan Kipner (born 1950) is an American-born Australian songwriter and record producer, with hits spanning a 40-year period, including chart-topping songs such as Olivia Newton-John's "Physical", Natasha Bedingfield's "These Words", and Christina Aguilera's "Genie in a Bottle", for which he won an Ivor Novello Award for International Hit of the Year. Down The Dustpipe
"Down the Dustpipe" is a song written by Australian singer-songwriter Carl Groszmann, and recorded by Status Quo. Background Groszmann was a client of Valley Music, who were affiliated to Status Quo's management in their early days. The group recorded it, and in Francis Rossi’s words, "it was the first record to feature our soon-to-be trademark boogie shuffle". It became one of the most popular numbers in their live set. Released as a single in March 1970, it took the media by surprise as it was so different in sound from their previous work. BBC Radio 1 presenter Tony Blackburn dismissed it on air the first time he played it with the comment, "Down the dustbin for this one." A demo version of the song was recorded by Welsh band Man, who were hired by Pye Records as a studio band. Inception/Nostalgia
''Inception/Nostalgia'' is a 1970 compilation album of previously unreleased songs recorded by the Bee Gees in 1966. This double album contains a mixture of both self-penned songs and covers. The first LP in the set is titled ''Inception'' while the second LP is titled ''Nostalgia'', hence the album title. Supposedly intended as a follow-up to the three volumes of ''Rare, Precious and Beautiful'' this set was first issued by Karussell in Germany and by Triumph in France, both being Polydor budget labels and therefore linked to their licensing deal with Festival Records. The Gibb brothers were unaware of its release until Maurice saw one during a skiing holiday in Switzerland. Maurice Gibb
Maurice Ernest Gibb (; 22 December 1949 – 12 January 2003) was a British musician. He achieved fame as a member of the pop group Bee Gees. Although his elder brother Barry Gibb and fraternal twin brother Robin Gibb were the group's main lead singers, most of their albums included at least one or two songs featuring Maurice's lead vocals, including " Lay It on Me", "Country Woman" and " On Time". The Bee Gees were one of the most successful pop-rock groups of all time. Status Quo are a British rock band that formed in 1962. The group originated in London as The Scorpions and was founded by Francis Rossi and Alan Lancaster while they were still schoolboys. After a number of lineup changes, which included the introduction of Rick Parfitt in 1967, the band became The Status Quo in 1967 and Status Quo in 1969. Colin Petersen
Frederick Colin Petersen (born 24 March 1946) is an Australian drummer, record producer and former child actor. He played as a member of the bands Steve and the Board, the Bee Gees and Humpy Bong. In August 1969, he left the Bee Gees and he was replaced by Pentangle drummer Terry Cox to record the songs for their 1970 album '' Cucumber Castle''. His scenes from the film of the same name were cut, and he is not credited on the accompanying album soundtrack, even though he does play on some songs.
