Carl D. Melton
Carl D. Melton (October 14, 1927 – August 17, 2016) was an American attorney, judge, and politician. Early life and education A native of Henderson, Kentucky, Melton served in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. In 1951, he received his law degree from the University of Louisville School of Law. Career Melton worked as a commonwealth's attorney and county attorney. Melton was also a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives from 1954 to 1956 as a Democrat. He later served as a judge on the Kentucky Circuit Court. Henderson is a home rule-class city along the Ohio River and is the county seat of Henderson County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 28,757 at the 2010 U.S. census. It is part of the Evansville Metropolitan Area, locally known as the " Tri-State Area". It is considered the southernmost suburb of Evansville, Indiana. The Kentucky Circuit Courts are the state courts of general jurisdiction in the U.S. state of Kentucky. Jurisdiction and bench The Circuit Courts are trial courts with original jurisdiction in cases involving capital offenses and other felonies; land disputes; contested probates of wills; and civil lawsuits in disputes with an amount in controversy over $5,000.
