Carl Banas
Carl Banas (born January 23, 1929) is a Toronto-born retired radio personality and actor. He is best known for his voice roles in ''Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer'' (1964) and '' The Raccoons: Let’s Dance!'' (1985). As a television actor, he appeared in the series '' Wojeck'' as police detective Byron James, and provided voices for numerous TV series and features. He was also known as a radio personality on Toronto radio station CKFM-FM, later and more famously known as MIX 99.9, (currently known as Virgin Radio 999) in the 1970s and 1980s. He mainly hosted weekday evenings, and was known for his deep voice, smooth manner and vignettes about Toronto featured during his show. In 1987 he moved to CJEZ 97.3 "Easy 97" (later known as 97.3 EZ Rock and currently as "Boom 97.3") where he continued hosting weekday evenings until he left the station and retired from radio. ''The New Adventures of Pinocchio'' is a 1961 syndicated stop motion animated television series produced by Rankin/Bass Productions in the United States and made by Dentsu Studios in Japan. Created by Arthur Rankin, Jr. and his partner Jules Bass, it was based on the 1883 book ''The Adventures of Pinocchio'' written by Italian author, Carlo Collodi. The series was Rankin/Bass' first production to be made in "Animagic", a stop motion puppet animation technique which, in association with the company, was done by Tadahito Mochinaga's MOM Productions. A total of 130 five-minute "chapters" were produced in 1960–61. These segments made up a series of five-chapter, 25-minute episodes. McQueen (TV Series)
''McQueen'' was a Canadian drama television series which aired on CBC Television from 1969 to 1970. Premise The plot features newspaper columnist McQueen (Ted Follows) whose ''The Actioneer'' feature exposed fraud artists and dubious businesses. He was assisted by Denise (Daphne Gibson) and Natasha (Jan Goldin). The pilot episode, "There's a Car Upside-Down on My Lawn", concerned the disposition of an abandoned vehicle. The episode won two Canadian Film Awards in 1969, for Best Director (Francis Chapman) and Best Actress in a Non-Feature ( Josephine Barrington). Jenny (Margot Kidder) was featured in two episodes as an employee of McQueen's newspaper. In one episode, she helped expose a scam at a talent agency while in the other she sought McQueen's help for a Vietnam draft evader she was dating. ''The Smokey Bear Show'' is an American-Japanese animated television series that aired on ABC's Saturday morning schedule, produced by Rankin/Bass Productions. The show features Smokey Bear, the icon of the United States Forest Service, who was well known for his 1947 slogan, "Remember... only YOU can prevent forest fires". It aired for one season of 17 episodes starting on September 6, 1969, and then aired in reruns for the 1970–1971 season. ''The Smokey Bear Show'' was based on stories created for the Dell Comics ''Smokey the Bear'' comic books, which were published as part of Dell's ''Four Color'' anthology series from 1955 to 1961.
