Carey Farm Site
The Carey Farm Site (7K-D-3) is a prehistoric Native American archaeological site in central Kent County, Delaware, near Dover. The site, located along the St. Jones River, encompasses what is believed to be a major seasonal base camp from the Woodland Period. Ceramics dating to 200 CE have been found at the site. Dover () is the capital and second-largest city of the U.S. state of Delaware. It is also the county seat of Kent County and the principal city of the Dover, DE, Metropolitan Statistical Area, which encompasses all of Kent County and is part of the Philadelphia– Wilmington– Camden, PA– NJ–DE– MD, Combined Statistical Area. It is located on the St. Jones River in the Delaware River coastal plain. It was named by William Penn for Dover in Kent, England (for which Kent County is named).
