Fazio Giovanni Santori
Fazio Giovanni Santori (1447 – 22 March 1510) (called the Cardinal of Cesena) was an Italian Roman Catholic bishop and cardinal. Biography Fazio Giovanni Santori was born in Viterbo in 1447. He was educated at the University of Perugia. Early in his career, he was a cleric in Viterbo. In 1485, he became a canon of St. Lambert's Cathedral, Liège. He was the ''pedagogus'' of Giuliano della Rovere, the future cardinal and future Pope Julius II; when della Rovere became a cardinal, he took Santori into his household. He served as a datary from November 1503 to December 1505. He was the dean of the Apostolic Camera in 1503. On 22 July 1504 he was elected Bishop of Cesena. Bandinello Sauli (c. 1481 – 28 March 1518) was an Italian Roman Catholic bishop and cardinal. Biography Bandinello Sauli was born in Genoa, ca. 1481, the son of nobles Pasquale Sauli and Mariola Giustiniani Longhi. .Hyde, Cardinal Bendinello Sauli and Church Patronage in Sixteenth-Century Italy, p.1/ref> Early in his career, he was a protonotary apostolic in Rome. Matthäus Schiner
Matthäus Schiner (or ''Schinner'', c. 1465 – 1 October 1522) was a bishop of Sion, Cardinal and diplomat. He was a military commander in several battles in northern Italy. Biography He was born in Mühlebach (in what is now the Swiss canton of Valais), the son of the farmer and carpenter Peter Schiner and Anna Welschen; his uncle Nicholas Schiner, later Bishop of Sion (Sitten), gave him his early instruction. He embraced the ecclesiastical career, and eventually became parish priest of Aernen (1496), and canon and dean of the cathedral of Sion. When his uncle resigned, he was made Bishop of Sion (20 September 1499). Francesco Argentino ( – 23 August 1511) was an Italian Roman Catholic bishop and cardinal. Biography Francesco Argentino was born in Venice c. 1450. His father was a poor man from Strasbourg (he took the surname "Argentino" because in Latin, "Strasbourg" is ''Argentinensis'') and a Venetian woman. Giovanni Mocenigo, Doge of Venice, arranged for Argentino to study at the University of Padua, where the young man obtained a doctorate in law. After completing his degree, he returned to Venice to practice law. Cardinal Giovanni di Lorenzo de' Medici (the future Pope Leo X) was exiled in Venice at that time, allowing Argentino to meet him. Achille Grassi
Achille Grassi (16 February 1456 – 22 November 1523) was an Italian Roman Catholic bishop and cardinal. Biography Achille Grassi was born in Bologna on 16 February 1456, the son of Baldassarre Grassi, a Bolognese patrician, and Orsina Bocchi. He attended the University of Bologna, becoming a doctor of both laws in 1478. He was also a canon of the cathedral chapter of Bologna Cathedral. He then traveled to Rome, joining his uncle Antonio, who was an auditor of the Roman Rota. When his uncle died in 1491, Pope Innocent VIII appointed him an auditor of the Roman Rota. In 1503, he became a chaplain of Pope Julius II. The pope also named him rector of San Clemente, San Giovanni in Persiceto. He then became a Referendary in the Roman Curia. Pietro Accolti (15 March 1455 – 11 December 1532), known as the "cardinal of Ancona", was an italy, Italian Roman Catholic cardinal and judge of the Roman Rota. Life He was born in Florence on 15 March 1455, the son of the famous jurist Benedetto Accolti the Elder and his wife Laura Federighi. He studied law at Pisa. In 1481, due to the influence of his uncle, Francesco Accolti, master of law, Pietro was appointed a reader of canon law. He moved to Rome sometime after 1485, and was appointed an auditor of the Roman Rota, that is, a judge who hears cases. In 1500, he became Dean of the Rota. Christopher Bainbridge
Christopher Bainbridge ( 1462/1464 – 14 July 1514) was an English Cardinal of the Catholic Church. Of Westmorland origins, he was a nephew of Bishop Thomas Langton of Winchester, represented the continuation of Langton's influence and teaching, and succeeded him in many of his appointments, not least as provost of The Queen's College in the University of Oxford. Towards the end of the reign of King Henry VII he was successively Master of the Rolls, a Privy Counsellor, Dean of Windsor and Bishop of Durham. Becoming Archbishop of York (and therefore Primate of England) in 1508, he was sent as procurator of King Henry VIII to the papal court of Pope Julius II, where he was active in the diplomatic affairs leading to Henry's war with France, and took part in the election of Julius's successor Pope Leo X. Francisco Jiménez de Cisneros, OFM (1436 – 8 November 1517), spelled Ximenes in his own lifetime, and commonly referred to today as simply Cisneros, was a Spanish cardinal, religious figure, and statesman. Starting from humble beginnings he rose to the heights of power, becoming a religious reformer, twice regent of Spain, Cardinal, Grand Inquisitor, promoter of the Crusades in North Africa, and founder of the Alcalá University.
