"Cardboard Box" is the debut single by British girl group Flo from their debut EP, ''The Lead'' (2022). The group co-wrote the song alongside Savannah Jada and MNEK, the latter of whom also handled the song's production. The single was released for digital download and streaming through Island Records on 24 March 2022 as the lead single from the EP. A pop and R&B song, it features the group's harmonised vocals over a dancehall-inspired beat with elements of 2000s music. Lyrically, the song describes moving on from an unfaithful romantic partner. Upon its release, the song gained popularity through Instagram, Twitter and TikTok. Background After their formation in 2019, the group spent two years working on music with producers including MNEK. Flo (stylised in uppercase) are a British girl group from London consisting of members Jorja Douglas, Stella Quaresma, and Renée Downer. The group formed in 2019 and signed to Island Records, where they released their breakthrough single "Cardboard Box", which preceded their debut extended play, ''The Lead'' (2022). Flo later topped the BBC's Sound of 2023 poll, and won the 2023 Brit Award for Rising Star. Members Stella Quaresma was born in Kingston upon Thames, and at four weeks old, she moved to Mozambique. She moved back to the British countryside at the age of five, before returning to London, where she began attending the Sylvia Young Theatre School, where she met bandmate Renée Downer. Quaresma was a year above Downer. She grew up listening to African musical artists and her mother later introduced her to Etta James and British artists like Amy Winehouse. Victoria Monét
Victoria Monét McCants (born May 1, 1989) is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. She became involved in performing arts at a young age, singing in the youth choir at her church, and performing in a city dance team. She soon took to writing and began working with producer Rodney Jerkins. Previously signed to Atlantic Records, Monét released her debut EP ''Nightmares & Lullabies: Act 1'' in 2014 and her follow-up EP ''Nightmares & Lullabies: Act 2'' in 2015. Monét would follow this with the ''Life After Love, Pt. 1'' and ''Life After Love Pt. 2'' EPs in February and September 2018 respectively. Part one of her debut album, ''Jaguar (album), Jaguar'', was released on August 7, 2020.
