Carbonized
Carbonized were a Sweden, Swedish avant-garde metal band formed 1988 in Saltsjöbaden. The band was formed by Lars Rosenberg in 1988, with Dismember (band), Dismember vocalist Matti Kärki. Joined by drummer Piotr Wawrzeniuk, the trio was completed by Therion (band), Therion's Christofer Johnsson, who originally agreed to only perform session guitarwork but eventually became a full-time member. The band never officially split up, but stopped being active after recording the Screaming Machines album in 1994 (released 1996). Music Quite different from anything that any of the members would become involved in later, the three albums ran the gamut from Psychedelic rock, psychedelic infused grindcore on ''For The Security'' to discordant jazz-metal weirdness on ''Disharmonization'' to something more avant-garde metal, avant-garde on ''Screaming Machines'', and described as "the worst of Sonic Youth, Syd Barret era Pink Floyd, old Black Flag, and Voivod" by Christofer Johnsson. Piotr Wawrzeniuk
Piotr Wawrzeniuk (born 1971 in Warsaw) is a Polish historian and musician. He is best known as a member of the symphonic metal band Therion, and as a member of Serpent, Carbonized, and The Robots. Music career Wawrzeniuk was a member of Swedish symphonic metal band Therion, of a doom metal side project of Therion and Entombed members—Serpent, Swedish death metal band Carbonized, and Swedish punk rock group The Robots. He was a singer and drummer for Therion between 1992 and 1996. Later he performed as a guest lead vocalist on '' Secret of the Runes'' (2001) bonus tracks, ''Lemuria'' and ''Sirius B'' (2004), and also as a live vocalist during the 20th Year Anniversary Tour in 2007. A cooperation with Joakim Knutsson (Rise and Shine) resulted in creation of Downforce of Doom. Wawrzeniuk released five albums with Stockholm based punk rock band The Robots, beginning in 1991. Matti Kärki
Matti Kärki, (born 13 December 1972) is a Swedish singer who is best known for his work with Dismember. Before he joined Dismember in 1991, he was the singer in the Swedish band Carnage (1989-1990). The first band fronted by Kärki was Therion in 1989. He also appears with the Autopsy-inspired Murder Squad since 1993. Furthermore, he was part of the experimental band Carbonized from 1988 to 1990. Kärki appeared as a guest-singer of Entombed and sang "But Life Goes On" on the Entombed show in Sala on 24 June 1990. Christofer Johnsson
Christofer Johnsson (born 10 August 1972) is a Swedish musician and producer. He is a founding member and the guitarist for symphonic metal band Therion and was previously a member of Carbonized, Liers in Wait, Messiah, and Demonoid. In 2006, he announced he will no longer sing for Therion – though he will continue as guitarist for the group. Inspiration and influences In his childhood, Johnsson enjoyed listening to classical music and gradually became more interested in his father's '50s and '60s rock. Popular music played on the radio in this era generally had a lot of strings in it, and even though much of it did not fall in his taste, it still managed to influence him. As a seven-year-old, he heard his first progressive rock as a theme in a Norwegian children TV program. General Surgery (band)
General Surgery is a Swedish goregrind group known as one of the earliest Carcass clones. Their 1991 debut ''Necrology'' was released by Relapse Records and would be General Surgery's only material released until 2001, when the group recorded one track for the Carcass tribute album, ''Requiems of Revulsion''. However, in 2003, General Surgery reformed and released a split album with The County Medical Examiners and have since released a collection of demos, two split 7-inches, a 2005 demo, a split album with Butcher ABC, and two full-length albums. Therion (band)
Therion (formerly Blitzkrieg and Megatherion) is a Swedish symphonic metal band founded by Christofer Johnsson in 1987. Its name was inspired by the Celtic Frost album '' To Mega Therion''. "To Mega Therion" is Greek for "The Great Beast" and was a title used by occultist Aleister Crowley. Originally a death metal band, Therion adjusted its musical style by adding orchestral elements, including choirs, classical musicians, and even a full orchestra at their concert performances. As a result, they are considered pioneers of the symphonic metal genre. Saltsjöbaden
Saltsjöbaden is a locality in Nacka Municipality, Stockholm County, Sweden with 9,491 inhabitants in 2010. It is on the Baltic Sea coast, deep in the Stockholm Archipelago. History Saltsjöbaden () was developed as a resort by Knut Agathon Wallenberg, a member of the wealthy and influential Wallenberg family, from farmland which he bought in 1891 through a newly created railway company. Saltsjöbaden was an independent municipality from 1909 to 1970. In 1971 it was reintegrated into Nacka Municipality. Bass Guitar
The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. It is a plucked string instrument similar in appearance and construction to an electric or an acoustic guitar, but with a longer neck and scale length, and typically four to six strings or courses. The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that typically has six strings. Jazz
Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Grindcore
Grindcore is an extreme fusion genre of heavy metal and hardcore punk that originated in the mid-1980s, drawing inspiration from abrasive-sounding musical styles, such as thrashcore, crust punk, hardcore punk, extreme metal, and industrial. Grindcore is considered a more noise-filled style of hardcore punk while using hardcore's trademark characteristics such as heavily distorted, down-tuned guitars, grinding overdriven bass, high-speed tempo, blast beats, and vocals which consist of growls, shouts and high-pitched shrieks.
