''Carambola!'' ( it, Carambola, also known as ''Strange Adventures of Coby and Ben'') is a 1974 Italian comedic Spaghetti Western film co-written and directed by Ferdinando Baldi. It was the first film starring the duo Michael Coby and Paul L. Smith, a couple formed by producer Manolo Bolognini with the purpose of ripping off the successful films of the duo Bud Spencer-Terence Hill. Plot A former soldier and champion of pool and his gigantic and irascible friend accepted, for $50.000, to investigate arms trafficking that would take place between the US and Mexico. Ferdinando Baldi
Ferdinando Baldi (19 May 1917 – 12 September 2007) was an Italian film director and screenwriter. Biography Baldi was born in Cava de' Tirreni, Salerno, on 19 May 1917. His early film work began in Italy in the early 1950s with films such as ''Il Prezzo dell'Onore''. He directed Orson Welles in the films ''David and Goliath'' and ''The Tartars''. Baldi died in Italy on 12 September 2007. Antonio Cantafora (born 2 February 1944), also known professionally as Michael Coby, is an Italian film and television actor. Life and career Born in Crotone (Calabria) Cantafora studied acting with Alessandro Fersen, then he made his film debut in 1967. Thanks to a vague resemblance to the actor Terence Hill, in the seventies he starred with Paul L. Smith in a brief series of successful action-comedy films that reprise the Bud Spencer-Terence Hill style. Carlo Pedersoli (31 October 1929 – 27 June 2016), known professionally as Bud Spencer, was an Italian actor, professional swimmer and water polo player. He was known for action-comedy and Spaghetti Western roles with his long-time film partner and friend Terence Hill. The duo "garnered world acclaim and attracted millions to theater seats". Spencer and Hill appeared in 18 films together. In his youth, Bud Spencer was a successful athlete and swimmer for the Gruppo Sportivo Fiamme Oro.
