''Neighbours'' is an Australian television soap opera. It was first broadcast on 18 March 1985 and airs on streaming service Amazon Freevee. The following is a list of characters that first appear in the show in 2023, by order of first appearance. All characters are introduced by the show's executive producer Jason Herbison. The 39th season of ''Neighbours'' commenced with Episode 8904 on 18 September 2023. The Varga-Murphy family, comprising of JJ Varga-Murphy, JJ (Riley Bryant), Cara Varga-Murphy, Cara (Sara West), Remi Varga-Murphy, Remi (Naomi Rukavina) and Dex Varga-Murphy (Marley Williams), along with Reece Sinclair (Mischa Barton) and Haz Devkar (Shiv Palekar), were introduced during the same episode. Haz's dog, Trevor (Neighbours), Trevor (Bodie), was introduced two episodes later. Neighbours
''Neighbours'' is an Australian television soap opera, which has aired since 18 March 1985. It was created by television executive Reg Watson. The Seven Network commissioned the show following the success of Watson's earlier soap '' Sons and Daughters.'' Although successful in Melbourne, ''Neighbours'' underperformed in the Sydney market and was cancelled by Seven four months after it began airing. It was immediately commissioned by rival Network Ten for a second production season, which began screening on 20 January 1986. ''Neighbours'' went on to become the longest-running drama series in Australian television history. In 2005, it was inducted into the Logie Hall of Fame. The storylines concern the lives of the people who live and work in Erinsborough, a fictional suburb of Melbourne, Victoria.
