Car Norris
Hensleigh Carthew Marryat "Car" Norris (12 March 1893 – 3 September 1980) was a New Zealand lawyer, soldier, Anglican layman and historian. Norris had a variety of interests and was awarded life membership by various organisations. Two of his books, ''Armed settlers'' (1956) and ''Settlers in depression'' (1964), are regarded as standard histories for Hamilton covering the period 1864 to 1894. Hamilton, New Zealand
Hamilton ( mi, Kirikiriroa) is an inland city in the North Island of New Zealand. Located on the banks of the Waikato River, it is the seat and most populous city of the Waikato, Waikato region. With a territorial population of , it is the country's List of cities in New Zealand, fourth most-populous city. Encompassing a land area of about , Hamilton is part of the wider Hamilton Urban Area, which also encompasses the nearby towns of Ngāruawāhia, Te Awamutu and Cambridge, New Zealand, Cambridge. In 2020, Hamilton was awarded the title of most beautiful large city in New Zealand. The area now covered by the city was originally the site of several Māori people, Māori villages, including Kirikiriroa, from which the city takes its Māori name. Companion Of The Queen's Service Order
The Queen's Service Order, established by royal warrant of Queen Elizabeth II on 13 March 1975, is used to recognise "valuable voluntary service to the community or meritorious and faithful services to the Crown or similar services within the public sector, whether in elected or appointed office".
