Capital Shakers
Capital Shakers are a former New Zealand netball team that were based in Wellington. Between 1998 and 2007, Shakers played in the Coca-Cola Cup/National Bank Cup league. Between 2000 and 2002, Shakers were semi-finalists three years in succession. Ahead of the 2008 season, Shakers merged with Western Flyers to form the new ANZ Championship team, Central Pulse. Southern Sting
The Southern Sting were a netball team based in Invercargill, New Zealand that competed in the National Bank Cup competition, formerly known as the Coca-Cola Cup. The Southern Sting team won the National Bank Cup seven times and are the only team to have competed in all 10 of the finals of the competition. In 2008, the Sting were merged with Otago Rebels to compete as the Southern Steel in the trans-tasman ANZ Championship. The new Southern Steel are still based in Invercargill and play the majority of their matches on the Sting's home court, Stadium Southland. Julie Seymour
Julie Seymour (née Dawson; born 29 March 1971) is a New Zealand netball coach, former international netball player and former representative middle distance runner. Seymour played for the New Zealand national netball team, the Silver Ferns, in 92 test matches spanning 16 years. During her international career she has competed at three Netball World Championships and two Commonwealth Games. She also captained the Silver Ferns in 2002 and again during the last two years of her international career. After two years in the ANZ Championship, Seymour announced her retirement from competitive netball in 2009. She subsequently took on a coaching role at the Canterbury Tactix as assistant coach. Debbie Fuller (netball)
Debbie Fuller (née Matoe) is a New Zealand netball coach and former international netball player. Fuller was a defender in the New Zealand national netball team, the Silver Ferns, from 1993 to 1996, during which time she competed at the 1995 Netball World Championships in Birmingham. Fuller retired from the Silver Ferns after 1996, spending a year in Argentina. She returned for the 1997 provincial season, and the following year captained Canterbury in the inaugural National Bank Cup. Fuller moved to the Capital Shakers in 1999, playing with the Wellington-based side until her retirement in 2002. After coaching stints in Wellington and the Bay of Plenty, Fuller accepted a position as a defensive coach with ANZ Championship side the Northern Mystics for the 2009 season, under new head coach Te Aroha Keenan. Leana De Bruin
Leana de Bruin (née du Plooy) (born 9 July 1977) is a South African and New Zealand international netball player. De Bruin played 34 tests for South Africa before moving to New Zealand in 2000. She made her on-court debut for the Silver Ferns in 2003, and has gone on to represent New Zealand at the Commonwealth Games and Netball World Championships, playing in the goal defence and goal keeper positions. In 2009, she pulled out of the team due to pregnancy, before returning the following year. De Bruin played for the Southern Sting, Capital Shakers, Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic and the Northern Force in the National Bank Cup. Jodi Te Huna
Jodi Anne Brown (née Te Huna; born 6 May 1981 in Whanganui, New Zealand) is a retired New Zealand netball player. Brown was a member of the New Zealand national netball team, the Silver Ferns from 2002 to 2015, taking time off in between those periods due to injury and pregnancy, earning 61 caps. She has also played elite domestic netball in New Zealand for 13 years, and has signed with the Southern Steel for 2014. Gail Parata
Gail Parata (born 26 November 1967) is a New Zealand netball coach and former player. She is currently a National netball selector for Netball NZ and the Technical Advisor to the Tifa Moana Samoan national netball team. She coached the Scotland national netball team from 2013 to 2019 where they qualified for two world cups and two Commonwealth Games. Under her leadership they achieved their highest world ranking of 7th position. Parata was appointed head coach of the Central Pulse in the ANZ Premiership in September 2020 and had a disappointing season losing key players such as Burger, Metuarau, Temu to other franchaises and Ekenasio to pregnancy. Tanya Dearns
Tanya Jane Dearns (née Cox; born 18 February 1967) is a New Zealand netball coach and former netball player. She played 31 international matches for the New Zealand team between 1990 and 1998, including at the 1991 World Netball Championships. Early life Dearns was born Tanya Jane Cox in Rotorua on 18 February 1967, the daughter of John and Jeanette Cox. Her father worked for the Post Office and the family lived in various towns in the North Island, including Hastings, Auckland, and Tauranga. Cox was educated at Waitakere College in West Auckland, and Otumoetai College in Tauranga, representing the latter school in both netball and basketball. Noeline Taurua
Dame Noeline Taurua (born 26 March 1968) is a New Zealand international netball coach and former representative player. She is currently head coach of the New Zealand national netball team, the Silver Ferns. Early life Taurua was born in Papakura to Kingi and Polly Taurua, her fathers tribe was Ngāpuhi and Ngāti Whātua on her mothers side. Taurua is the youngest of five children. Taurua expressed an interest in Athletics in her schooling years. Playing career Taurua was a member of the Silver Ferns from 1993–99. During that time she won a silver medal at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur and a bronze medal at the 1995 Netball World Championships in Birmingham.
