Cape Coast Municipal District
Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly is one of the twenty-two districts in Central Region, Ghana. Originally created as an municipal district assembly in 1988 when it was known as Cape Coast Municipal District, which was created from the Cape Coast Municipal Council; until it was later elevated to metropolitan district assembly status on 29 February 2008 to become Cape Coast Metropolitan District. The municipality is located in the southwest part of Central Region and has Cape Coast as its capital town; which is also the regional capital of the Central Region. 2004 Ghanaian Parliamentary Election
General elections were held in Ghana on 7 December 2004. Democratic Freedom Party
The Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) was a political party in Ghana. It was formed in 2006 and eventually merged with the National Democratic Congress in 2011. It came in fourth place in the Ghanaian general election of 2008 with 0.33% of the total vote. Formation The formation of the Democratic Freedom Party was announced in February, 2006 by Dr. Obed Asamoah, former chairman of the National Democratic Congress, as a viable third party alternative to the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party. This follows a split between a Rawlings faction and an Asamoah faction within the NDC. 2008 Ghanaian Parliamentary Election
General elections were held in Ghana on 7 December 2008. Since no candidate received more than 50% of the votes, a run-off election was held on 28 December 2008 between the two candidates who received the most votes, Nana Akufo-Addo of the governing New Patriotic Party and John Atta Mills of the opposition National Democratic Congress. Christine Churcher (born 21 September 1954) is a leading politician in Ghana. She was the member of parliament for the Cape Coast constituency in the Central Region of Ghana in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th parliament of the Republic of Ghana. Early life and education Churcher was born on 21 September 1954. She attended the Kwesi Plange Primary School also known as Pere Planque Memorial Preparaory School in Cape Coast from 1959 to 1965. Between 1965 and 1972 she attended the Mfanstiman Girls Secondary School. Between 1975 and 1978 Churcher studied English and history at the University of Ghana and graduated successfully.
