Cao Gangchuan
Cao Gangchuan (; born December 1935) was vice chairman of the Central Military Commission and former Minister of National Defense of the People's Republic of China. He was also state councilor and director of the PLA General Armament Department. Biography Cao Gangchuan was born in December 1935 in Wugang, Henan Province. For two years from 1954 he was a student of Nanjing No. 3 Artillery Ordnance Technical School and No.1 Ordnance Technical School. Then in 1956, he became a teacher of the No. 1 Ordnance Technical School. In the same year he attended the PLA Dalian Russian-Language School, before spending six years from 1957 at the Military Engineering School of the Artillery Corps of the Soviet Union. On returning in China in 1963 he was Assistant of Ammunition Division of Ordnance Department of PLA General Logistics Department, until 1969, when he became Assistant of Munitions Division in the same department. The Commission for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense (COSTIND; Chinese: 国防科学技术工业委员会) was a civilian ministry within the State Council of the People's Republic of China, responsible for setting policy for defense procurement. It was considered as the Chinese counterpart of DARPA of the US. The ministry was formed in 1982 to centralize Chinese defense procurement and technology whose responsibility had been distributed among several agencies. Ding Henggao
Ding Henggao (; born 3 February 1931) is a general in the People's Liberation Army of China who served as chairperson of the Commission for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense from 1985 to 1995. He was a member of the 8th and 9th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. He was an alternate member of the 12th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and a member of the 13th and 14th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party. Li Jinai (; b. July 1942) is a general in the People's Liberation Army. Biography Li Jinai was born in Teng County (now Tengzhou), Shandong in July 1942. He joined the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) in May 1965 and joined the People's Liberation Army (PLA) in December 1967.
