The canton of Grand Sud is an administrative division of the Corse-du-Sud department, southeastern France. It was created by the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in Porto-Vecchio. Corse-du-Sud (; co, link=no, Corsica suttana , or ; en, Southern Corsica) is (as of 2019) an administrative department of France, consisting of the southern part of the island of Corsica. The corresponding departmental territorial collectivity merged with that of Haute-Corse on 1 January 2018, forming the single territorial collectivity of Corsica, with territorial elections coinciding with the dissolution of the separate council. However, even though its administrative powers were ceded to the new territorial collectivity, it continues to remain an administrative department in its own right. Porto-Vecchio (, ; it, Porto Vecchio or ; co, Portivechju or ) is a commune in the French department of Corse-du-Sud, on the island of Corsica. Porto-Vecchio is a medium-sized port city placed on a good harbor, the southernmost of the marshy and alluvial east side of Corsica. It is the seat of two cantons: Bavella and Grand Sud. Figari (; also co, Fìgari) is a commune in the French department of Corse-du-Sud on the island of Corsica, France. Geography The village of Figari is to the southeast of Sartène, to the southwest of Porto-Vecchio and to the north of Bonifacio. The commune comes from an ancient parish. It includes the center of a large plain where the airport was built in 1975. To the north looms Mount Cagna, which exceeds . Monacia-d'Aullène (; co, Munacia d'Auddé) is a commune in the Corse-du-Sud department of France on the island of Corsica. It is part of the canton of Grand Sud. Geography Monacia-d'Aullène is west northwest of Figari. It was created in 1864 by dividing Aullène.
