Canton City Schools
The Canton City School District (CCSD) is a public school district serving students in Canton, Ohio in the United States. In the 2020–2021 academic year its student enrollment was 8,000, making it the 22nd largest school district in the state. The district operates an early childhood center, twelve elementary schools, three middle schools and two 9–12 high schools. In addition to traditional schools, CCSD also operates four alternative schools. While the district primarily serves students in Canton city limits, they also serve small sections of surrounding areas, as well as the village of Meyers Lake. Students in the northern part of the city go to the Plain Local School District instead of the Canton City district. Canton () is a city in and the county seat of Stark County, Ohio. It is located approximately south of Cleveland and south of Akron in Northeast Ohio. The city lies on the edge of Ohio's extensive Amish country, particularly in Holmes and Wayne counties to the city's west and southwest. McKinley Senior High School is a public high school in Canton, Ohio, United States. It is the only high school in the Canton City School District and has two campuses: Downtown Campus (mostly known as Early College High School or Timken High School) and the main campus, which is known as McKinley Senior High School. Athletic teams compete as the Canton McKinley Bulldogs in the Ohio High School Athletic Association as a member of the Federal League. Lehman High School was a public high school in the Canton City School District. It was named for John House Lehman, "in honor of his extensive, untiring, and unselfish efforts for the public school system." History Lehman was built on the site of the original North High School in 1920 and served as a junior high until 1932, when it started to add grades above 9th grade. From 1920 to 1937 Lehman was a feeder school to Canton McKinley High School. The first class graduated in 1938. Due to projections for declining enrollment in Canton City Schools, Lehman and Lincoln High School were closed as traditional high schools at the end of the 1975-76 school year and both buildings became junior highs. Lincoln High School was a public high school in the Canton City School District from 1926 until 1976. The Lincoln Lions were members of the Hall of Fame Conference for football. Due to low enrollment, Lincoln and Lehman High School were closed as traditional high schools at the end of the 1975-76 school year and became junior highs. The Lincoln building would eventually house Heritage Christian School in 1979. Timken High School
Timken High School was a high school in Canton, Ohio. Timken participated in the Principals Athletic Conference (PAC-7/8), before they were absorbed by Canton McKinley in 2015. Formation Timken Vocational High School was built in the 1930s by a donation from the Timken Foundation to the city of Canton, Ohio. As part of the Canton City School District with four quadrants and three district high schools, students could choose to take a test and enter a vocational program at Timken from any of the quadrants. Students were given opportunity to explore several occupational experiences during their Sophomore year. Their Junior and Senior year was spent in their choice of vocational program. For many years, the Timken Company hired the highest achieving Seniors and graduates from Secretarial Class, the Machine Shop, Electric Shop, Data Processing, and Welding Shop.
