Canterbury Magicians
The Canterbury Magicians is the women's representative cricket team for the New Zealand region of Canterbury. They play their home games at Hagley Oval, Christchurch. They compete in the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield one-day competition and the Women's Super Smash Twenty20 competition. They are the most successful side in the history of the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield, with 39 title wins. History Canterbury played their first recorded match in 1932, against Otago, which they won by five runs. They played in their first Hallyburton Johnstone Challenge Shield in 1938–39, where they lost to Wellington. After another failed attempt at winning the Challenge Shield a year later, they were victorious at their next attempt, in 1943–44, beating Auckland and Wellington. They defended their title in both of the next two tournaments. Rhys Morgan (cricketer)
Rhys Morgan (born 3 November 1978) is a New Zealand cricketer. He played in three first-class matches for Wellington in 2000/01. He is currently the coach of the Canterbury Magicians. The 2010–11 Action Cricket Cup was a 50-over women's cricket competition that took place in New Zealand. It ran from December 2010 to January 2011, with 6 provincial teams taking part. Twenty20
Twenty20 (T20) is a shortened game format of cricket. At the professional level, it was introduced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2003 for the inter-county competition. In a Twenty20 game, the two teams have a single innings each, which is restricted to a maximum of 20 overs. Together with first-class and List A cricket, Twenty20 is one of the three current forms of cricket recognised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as being at the highest international or domestic level. Super Smash (women's Cricket)
The Women's Super Smash, known for sponsorship reasons as the Dream11 Super Smash, is a women's Twenty20 cricket competition organised by New Zealand Cricket. The competition began in 2007–08 and features six teams, who play each other twice in a double round-robin format. The winner of the group advances to the final, and the second and third placed teams play in an elimination final. The competition runs alongside the 50-over Hallyburton Johnstone Shield. Not Out
In cricket, a batter is not out if they come out to bat in an innings and have not been dismissed by the end of an innings. The batter is also ''not out'' while their innings is still in progress. Occurrence At least one batter is not out at the end of every innings, because once ten batters are out, the eleventh has no partner to bat on with so the innings ends. Usually two batters finish not out if the batting side declares in first-class cricket, and often at the end of the scheduled number of overs in limited overs cricket. Batters further down the batting order than the not out batters do not come out to the crease at all and are noted as ''did not bat'' rather than ''not out''; by contrast, a batter who comes to the crease but faces no balls is ''not out''. Frances Louise Mackay (born 1 June 1990) is a New Zealand cricketer who currently plays for Canterbury and New Zealand. In January 2019, she was recalled to New Zealand's squad to play in the Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) series against India, after a gap of five years since she last played an international match. In March 2019, she was named as the Burger King Super Smash Women's Player of the Year at the annual New Zealand Cricket awards.
