Canterbury High School is an Ottawa-Carleton District School Board high school in the Urbandale neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is an arts magnet school which draws in students from the Ottawa area to their specialized arts program. It is located at 900 Canterbury Ave, and serves over 1300 students. While offering both an arts program and a general program, Canterbury is known primarily for the arts in both its local community and nationally. History The school opened in 1969 as a comprehensive high school. It was the last in a series of ten high schools built by the Collegiate Board to deal with baby boomers. The Canterbury Academy is a co-educational 11-19 academy school in Canterbury, Kent, England. It is a specialist Sports College and 15% of its 1081 pupils are selected on musical aptitude. The school was founded as a non-selective secondary modern foundation school before gaining academy status in 2010. Location The school is on the London Road estate in the west of the city. The high school and primary school are collectively known as The Canterbury Campus. The Canterbury Adult Education Centre is now on the same site. Canterbury School is a Catholic college preparatory, coeducational boarding and day independent school for students in grades 9-12 and post-graduate. It is located in New Milford, Connecticut, United States. History Canterbury was founded in 1915 on the aspiration of two men: Henry O. Havemeyer, scion of a wealthy family which made its fortune in sugar refining, and Nelson Hume, a Catholic schoolmaster. They intended to establish a Roman Catholic school where young men could be guided in their religion and be prepared to attend Ivy League universities. The school was established in New Milford, Connecticut, on the location of the former Ingleside School for Girls. Hume became the first headmaster of the school. Canterbury School is an independent, college preparatory day school for students aged 2 through Grade 12. The school is located in Fort Wayne, Indiana (U.S.). As of 2020, Canterbury School is ranked as the third-best private school in Indiana. History Canterbury was established in 1977, by several families, and others. Canterbury School opened at Trinity Episcopal Church in downtown Fort Wayne. It was a nondenominational, self-supported school with 89 students in kindergarten to grade 6.
