Canoeing At The 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's K-2 200 Metres
The men's canoe sprint K-2 200 metres competition at the 2012 Olympic Games in London took place between 10 and 11 August at Eton Dorney. Yury Postrigay and Alexander Dyachenko, representing Russia, won the gold medal. Dorney Lake
Dorney Lake (also known as Eton College Rowing Centre, and as Eton Dorney as a 2012 Summer Olympics venue) is a purpose-built rowing lake in England. It is near the village of Dorney, Buckinghamshire, and is around 3 km (2 miles) west of Windsor and Eton, close to the River Thames. The lake is privately owned and financed by Eton College, which spent £17 million developing it. Additional grants, totalling £500,000, were obtained from Sport England, UK Sport, the DCMS and SEEDA in order to build the lake's finish tower. The project was completed in 2006, after 10 years of construction. Arnaud Hybois (born 26 January 1982 in Pontivy) is a French sprint canoeist who has competed since the late 2000s. He has won six medals at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships with three golds (K-2 200 m, K-4 1000 m: both 2010 and K-2 200 m in 2011), a silver (K-1 4 x 200 m, 2014) and two bronze (K-1 4 x 200 m: 2009, K-1 500 m 2013). Jesse Phillips (born 26 July 1986 in Perth, Western Australia) is an Australian sprint canoeist. He is a five-time national champion (2010-2014) in the men's kayak doubles (200 m), and a member of the Bayswater Paddle Sports Club, under his personal coach Ramon Andersson. Phillips has also studied towards a bachelor's degree in media at Murdoch University but deferred due to Olympic qualification and selection commitments. Stephen Bird (born 11 May 1988) is a South African-born Australian sprint canoeist. He is a three-time national champion (2010, 2011, and 2012) in the men's kayak doubles (200 m), and a member of the Canning River Canoe Club in Perth, Western Australia, under his personal coach Ramon Andersson. Bird took up canoeing in 1996 in Richmond, South Africa, together with his brother. They used the kayaks left by his uncle, who immigrated to Australia that year. He attended Michaelhouse in KwaZulu-Natal, during which time he was awarded his Protea Blazer for representing South Africa at junior level. Miguel Antonio Correa (born 11 October 1983) is an Argentine sprint canoeist who competed since the late 2000s. At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, he was eliminated in the semifinals of both the K-1 500 m and the K-1 1000 m events. Emanuel Eduardo Pimenta Vieira da Silva, GOIH (born 4 December 1985), is a Portuguese sprint canoer. He was born in Braga. A finalist at the 2004 Olympics and medalist at the 2012 Olympics, he is Portugal's most successful kayak sprinter since the 1980s. Despite training with very limited resources, Silva became outright Portuguese individual champion over three distances (500 m, 1000 m and 10,000 m) at the age of just sixteen. In 2003 he starred at the world junior championships in Komatsu, Japan, winning the K1 500 m gold medal and silver in the K1 1000 m. Fernando Ismael Fernandes Pimenta (, born 13 August 1989) is a Portuguese sprint canoeist who has won multiple medals at the Olympic Games, World and European championships.
