Canley Railway Station
Canley railway station is situated in Canley, Coventry, in the West Midlands of England. The station, and all trains serving it, are operated by West Midlands Railway. It is situated on the edge of Coventry Business Park, to the west of the Earlsdon area of Coventry, and close to the University of Warwick. It has two platforms, a small booking office and waiting room. History The station was opened on 30 September 1940 and was originally known as ''Canley Halt'', the 'Halt' suffix was later dropped. It was built primarily to serve the Standard Motor Company works alongside. There was a railway level crossing adjacent to the station until 2002 (approximately) when the road was closed and a footbridge was built over the railway line. Canley
Canley is a suburban neighbourhood located in CV4, south-west Coventry, England. Canley became part of Coventry as a result of successive encroachment of the latter's boundaries between 1928 and 1932, having historically been part of the Stoneleigh parish. Electorally, it is largely in Westwood ward and partially within the Wainbody and Earlsdon wards. The area is home to many students attending the nearby University of Warwick. There was a level crossing adjacent to Canley railway station until 2003, when the road was closed and a foot bridge was built over the railway. The suburb is bisected by the A45 dual-carriageway, with a major state housing development (built in the early-1950s) lying to the south and an area of private housing (Canley Gardens) situated north of this road towards Canley rail station. Tile Hill Railway Station
Tile Hill railway station is situated in the west of Tile Hill, Coventry, in the West Midlands of England. The station, and all trains serving it, are operated by West Midlands Railway. History The station was opened in 1850, and was originally known as ''Allesley Lane'', in 1857 it was renamed ''Allesley Gate'', it assumed its current name of ''Tile Hill'' in 1864. The station was located at a point where the railway crossed the road on a level crossing. It originally had staggered platforms, with one platform on one side of the level crossing, and the other on the other side. The station was completely rebuilt in 1966 when the line was electrified in its present more conventional form. Berkswell Railway Station
Berkswell railway station ( ), in the West Midlands of England, takes its name from the nearby village of Berkswell although it is located on the northern edge of the village of Balsall Common. The station originally opened in 1844 as ''Docker's Lane'', changed to ''Berkswell'' on 1 January 1853, then to ''Berkswell & Balsall Common'' on 1 February 1928 before reverting to ''Berkswell'' again in 1955. Standard Motor Company
The Standard Motor Company Limited was a motor vehicle manufacturer, founded in Coventry, England, in 1903 by Reginald Walter Maudslay. For many years, it manufactured Ferguson TE20 tractors powered by its Vanguard engine. All Standard's tractor assets were sold to Massey Ferguson in 1959. Standard purchased Triumph Motor Company, Triumph in 1945 and in 1959 officially changed its name to Standard-Triumph International and began to put the Triumph brand name on all its products.
