Candy Pennella
Candi & The Backbeat (initially named Candi) was a Canadian pop band fronted by lead vocalist Candita "Candy" Pennella. Band members included Nino (Big Papa) Milazzo (bass and background vocals), Paul (Baldy) Russo (drums and percussion), and Rich Imbrogno (keyboards). The band is best known among U.S. audiences for the freestyle classic "Dancing Under a Latin Moon", a major dance hit which also made number 68 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in 1988. History Originally an Italian wedding band, Candi released their debut self-titled album ''Candi'' in 1988 on the I.R.S. Records label. Their self-titled debut included "Dancing Under a Latin Moon" and "Under Your Spell", the latter was nominated for Single of the Year at the Juno Awards of 1990. ''Candis "Under Your Spell" and "Missing You" were both nominated for Best Dance Recording at the same award show. Pennella was also nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year, losing to Rita MacNeil.

North York
North York is one of the six administrative districts of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located directly north of York, Old Toronto and East York, between Etobicoke to the west and Scarborough to the east. As of the 2016 Census, it had a population of 869,401. North York was created as a township in 1922 out of the northern part of the former township of York, a municipality that was located along the western border of Old Toronto. The Juno Awards of 1991, representing Canadian music industry achievements of the previous year, were awarded on 3 March 1991 in Vancouver, British Columbia at a ceremony in the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Paul Shaffer was the host for the ceremonies, which were broadcast on CBC Television. This was the first time the award ceremonies were hosted away from Toronto. A category for rap music also made its debut at these 1991 awards. In the issue dated March 16, 1985, '' Billboard'' magazine debuted its first chart devoted exclusively to 12-inch Singles Sales. The 50-position weekly ranking joined ''Billboard''s established Club Songs chart, reduced to the same 50 positions, both under the title Hot Dance/Disco. A coupling from MCA Records' ''Beverly Hills Cop'' soundtrack, Patti LaBelle's " New Attitude" and Harold Faltermeyer's "Axel F", held the No. 1 slot for the chart's first week and was also No. 1 for the second consecutive week on the most played dance/disco chart. On June 20, 1992, the chart was renamed Maxi-Singles Sales, then simply Dance Singles Sales on March 1, 2003. The chart included maxi-singles that did not appear on Club Play by artists of other genres such as rapper 2Pac, the industrial metal band Ministry and alternative rock band the Smiths. The Canadian dance chart was first known to be published on November 13, 1976 by ''RPM'' magazine under the name ''Top 30 Disco Playlist''. The song which held the number-one spot on this first chart was "Keep It Comin' Love / I'm Your Boogie Man" by KC and the Sunshine Band. No chart was published from January 1980 until September 3, 1988. The final archived chart was under the name ''Top 30 Dance'' and was published on October 16, 2000, three weeks before the magazine ceased publication. The song which held the number-one spot on the final archived chart was "Here Comes the Sunshine" by Love Inc. ''RPM'' ( and later ) was a Canadian music-industry publication that featured song and album charts for Canada. The publication was founded by Walt Grealis in February 1964, supported through its existence by record label owner Stan Klees. ''RPM'' ceased publication in November 2000. ''RPM'' stood for "Records, Promotion, Music". The magazine's title varied over the years, including ''RPM Weekly'' and ''RPM Magazine''.
