Albert Dunstan
Sir Albert Arthur Dunstan, KCMG (26 July 1882 – 14 April 1950) was an Australian politician. A member of the Country Party (now National Party), Dunstan was the 33rd premier of Victoria. His term as premier was the second-longest in the state's history, behind Sir Henry Bolte. Dunstan, who was premier from 2 April 1935 to 14 September 1943, and again from 18 September 1943 to 2 October 1945, was the first premier of Victoria to hold that office as a position in its own right, and not just an additional duty taken up by the Treasurer, Attorney-General or Chief Secretary. Early life Dunstan was born on 26 July 1882 at Donald East, Victoria, the son of a Cornish gold rush immigrant. Mildura is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria and sits within the Northern Victoria electorate. It is a 37,529 km2 rural electorate in the far-north-west of the state, encompassing the regional towns of Hopetoun, Mildura, Ouyen, Red Cliffs and Robinvale. It is currently represented by independent Ali Cupper. Mildura was first proclaimed in 1927 and was, for most of its history, a safe seat for the rural conservative Country Party, excluding two terms of Labor control from 1945 to 1947 and 1952–1955. In 1988, however, it became one of a number of rural seats to fall to the Liberal Party, with journalist Craig Bildstien winning the seat on Labor preferences. James McDonald (Victorian Labor Politician)
James McDonald (13 August 1889 – 11 January 1938) was an Australian politician. Born in Wallan, Victoria, to storekeeper John Roderick McDonald and Marion Frances Menere, he grew up in Wallan and farmed in the Kyneton, Victoria, Kyneton-Woodend, Victoria, Woodend area dating back to 1910. During World War I, he served for two years with the First Australian Imperial Force, Australian Imperial Force, during which time he was seriously wounded; after his return, he became president of the Woodend Returned and Services League of Australia, Returned and Services League. In August 1923, he was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly in a by-election for the seat of Electoral district of Daylesford, Daylesford, representing the Australian Labor Party (Victorian Branch), Labor Party, but in September, he was defeated in a recount. Bulla and Dalhousie (also referred to as Bulla-Dalhousie) was an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It was created in 1927 with the merging of the previous districts of Bulla and Dalhousie, and was abolished in 1945, with most of the territory going into the new Mernda seat. Reg Pollard (politician)
Reginald Thomas Pollard (31 October 1894 – 24 August 1981) was an Australian politician. He was a member of the Australian Labor Party (ALP) and served in the Victorian Legislative Assembly (1924–1932) and House of Representatives (1937–1966). He was Minister for Commerce and Agriculture (1946–1949) in the Chifley Government. Early life Pollard was born in Castlemaine, Victoria and educated at Woodend State School, West Melbourne Technical School and Workingmen's College. He worked as an agricultural labourer near Werribee and from 1912 to 1915 as a fitter in Melbourne. During World War I he served in the first Australian Imperial Force the 6th Battalion from October 1915 in Egypt and France and was promoted to Second Lieutenant. He was wounded in 1918 and invalidated home. He became a soldier settler in Woodend as a dairy farmer. He married Elsie Bowman Hodges in 1922 and they had two sons.
