Candace Jirik
Candi Clarkson-De Gazon OLY (née Clarkson born 30 November 1958) (other last names, Lohr/Jirik) is a Canadian basketball player. She competed in the women's tournament at the 1984 Summer Olympics. In 2013, she was inducted into the Canada Basketball Hall of Fame. In 2014 Candace was inducted into the Ontario Basketball Hall of Fame. Candace was granted the use of the post-nominal letters of OLY by the World Olympians Association in 2023 in recognition of being an Olympian from the 1984 Olympics. 1984 Summer Olympics
The 1984 Summer Olympics (officially the Games of the XXIII Olympiad and also known as Los Angeles 1984) were an international multi-sport event held from July 28 to August 12, 1984, in Los Angeles, California, United States. U Sports Women's Basketball
U Sports women's basketball is the highest level of play of women's basketball at the university level under the auspices of U Sports, Canada's governing body for university sports. There are 48 teams, all of which are based in Canada, that are divided into four conferences that are eligible to compete for the year-end championship. As these players compete at the university level, they are obligated to follow the rule of standard eligibility of five years. The winning team of the U Sports women's basketball championship is awarded the Bronze Baby trophy.
