The road serves as a major central artery of Lahore and extends from Multan Road in Thokar Niaz Beg to BRB Canal Road in Khaira, passing through the neighbourhoods of Johar, Gulberg, Mughalpura and Harbanspura. Canal Road East (), Canal Road West () and the Canal Road Flyover () are important roads in the Wan Chai District of Hong Kong Island, between the areas of East Point near Causeway Bay, and Morrison Hill near Wan Chai. History Before urban development, the area was the estuary of the Wong Nai Chung river, which flowed through Happy Valley. The 4th Governor of Hong Kong, John Bowring, developed the estuary area and named it (or Bowring City). was built during the mid to late 1850s, fed by Wong Nai Chung. Because the long and narrow canal resembled the neck of a goose it was known as ''Ngo Keng Kan'' (). It was used by small vessels that could pass under various bridges along the route. The landmark across the canal, built in 1861, was known as ''Ngo Keng Kiu'' () and carried the Hong Kong Tramways line across the waterway. ''Canal Road'' is an Australian television drama series on the Nine Network. The series was produced in-house, under producer Susan Bower, in collaboration with writers Sarah Smith, John Ridley and Dave Warner, and directed by Kevin Carlin. It was filmed at Channel Nine’s GTV Studio 11 and on location in and around Melbourne. The series reportedly cost A$10 million to produce. The 13-part series went to air from 16 April 2008. The series debuted to mixed critical reception and only average ratings, which were further eroded when the series was moved to a later timeslot. Nine removed ''Canal Road'' from its schedules after the seventh episode, which drew in only 360,000 viewers; however the eighth episode was still made available online.
