Channel 39 (New Zealand TV Channel)
Channel 39, also known as Southern Television (and formerly Dunedin Television and Channel 9), is a regional television station operating in Dunedin, New Zealand. The channel is a division of Allied Press, who also publish the local daily newspaper ''Otago Daily Times''. History Channel 39 first commenced transmission in 1995 as a tourism station. In 1997 the station was expanded into a news-carrying local station called Channel 9. In 2003, the channel underwent a reorientation of strategy to focus on local news and became a division of Allied Press. In March 2013, Channel 9 was rebranded as Dunedin Television when New Zealand switched to digital television. In addition, the channel's broadcast channel was changed to Freeview HD Channel 39. Nou Televisió (), or simply Nou (Valencian for "nine" or "new"), previously known as Canal Nou ("Channel Nine" or "New Channel"), was a public television station in the Valencian Community, Spain. Channel 9 was a Microsoft website for hosting videos and podcasts that Microsoft employees create. Launched in 2004 when Microsoft's corporate reputation was at a low, Channel 9 was the company's first blog. It was named after the United Airlines audio channel that lets airplane passengers listen to the cockpit's conversations unhindered; the site published conversations among Microsoft developers, rather than its chairman Bill Gates, who had historically been the "face" of Microsoft. This made it an inexpensive alternative to Microsoft's Professional Developers Conference, then the main public platform where customers and outside developers could speak to Microsoft employees without the intervention of the company's PR department. Canal 9 is a Nicaraguan terrestrial television channel broadcasting since 2011 from the city of Managua and owned by Digital Media de Nicaragua S.A., itself a part of the larger Grupo RATENSA. Kanal 9 (''Channel 9'') is a Swedish free-to-air television channel owned by Warner Bros. Discovery. It targets the 25-59 age group, which is a slightly older age group than the sister channel Kanal 5. The channel launched on 25 February 2007. Its opening night featured the 79th Academy Awards. The programming consists of drama series, movies, sports and documentaries. History Kanal 9 uses the space formerly occupied by ONE Television in the terrestrial network.
