This is page shows results of Canadian federal elections in Greater Vancouver and the Sunshine Coast. Regional profile The city of Vancouver, along with the inner suburbs south of Burrard Inlet, tend to be very liberal and have always been heavily supportive of the New Democratic Party and Liberals. This is primarily due to a sense of liberal activism in the area (including strong support for same-sex marriage and the legalization of marijuana). Unsurprisingly, the more affluent inner city ridings in the west (Centre, Quadra) tend to favour the Liberals, while the relatively poorer eastern inner city ridings (East, Kingsway) are more supportive of the NDP. The outer suburbs farther east and north of Burrard Inlet tend to lean more in the conservative direction, although primarily only on economic issues; historically the eastern ridings were NDP strongholds until the rise of the Reform Party. This article provides a summary of results for Canadian general elections (where all seats are contested) to the House of Commons, the elected lower half of Canada's federal bicameral legislative body, the Parliament of Canada. The number of seats has increased steadily over time, from 180 for the first election to the current total of 338. Fin Donnelly
Fin Donnelly (born May 27, 1966) is a Canadian politician, who was elected to the House of Commons of Canada to represent the electoral district of Port Moody—Coquitlam. He is a member of the New Democratic Party. Donnelly was first elected as a Member of Parliament in a by-election on November 9, 2009, in the New Westminster—Coquitlam electoral district. In the one year he spent in the 40th Canadian Parliament, he acted as the NDP's fisheries critic and introduced six private member bills. Nelly Shin
Nelly Shin (born 1972) is a Canadian politician who was elected as a Member of Parliament in the House of Commons of Canada for Port Moody—Coquitlam as a member of the Conservative Party of Canada. Shin is the first Korean-Canadian to be elected to the House of Commons. She is the second Korean-Canadian woman, after Yonah Martin, to serve in the Parliament of Canada. Andrew Saxton
Andrew Saxton (born March 11, 1964) is a Canadian politician and businessman, who was elected Member of Parliament to represent the electoral district of North Vancouver in the 2008 Canadian federal election and re-elected in 2011; he was defeated in 2015 and again in 2019. Jonathan Wilkinson (born June 11, 1965) is a Canadian politician who has served as the minister of natural resources since 2021. A member of the Liberal Party, Wilkinson was elected as the member of Parliament (MP) for North Vancouver in 2015. Peter S. Julian (born April 16, 1962) is a Canadian Member of Parliament for the New Democratic Party (NDP), representing the riding of New Westminster—Burnaby. Personal life Julian was born on April 16, 1962, in New Westminster, British Columbia, to Terry and Ruth Julian.
