Canadian U18 Curling Championships
The Canadian U18 Curling Championships is an annual curling tournament held to determine the best juvenile-level curling team in Canada. Juvenile level curlers must be under the age of 18 as of June 30 in the year prior to the tournament. The 2017 Canadian U18 Curling Championships was the inaugural championship for both the men's and women's sides. The event is a continuation of the Optimist U18 International Curling Championships. The U18 Internationals consisted of teams from Canada, USA, and Japan, and ran from 2001 to 2016 on both the men's and women's sides. Timmins
Timmins ( ) is a city in northeastern Ontario, Canada, located on the Mattagami River. The city is the fourth-largest city in the Northeastern Ontario region with a population of 41,145 (2021). Kira Brunton
Kira Michaela Brunton (born March 17, 1999) is a Canadian curler originally from Sudbury, Ontario. She currently plays third on Team Danielle Inglis. In 2015, she won the gold medal at the 2015 Canada Winter Games playing third for Megan Smith. Career Brunton made her first national appearance at the 2015 Canada Winter Games where she played third for Megan Smith. After a 6–0 round robin record, they defeated Saskatchewan in the semifinal and Nova Scotia in the final to claim the gold medal. The following season, she qualified for both the 2016 U18 International Curling Championships and the 2016 Canadian Junior Curling Championships where she missed the playoffs at both events. 2023 Canadian U18 Curling Championships
The 2023 Canadian U18 Curling Championships were held from February 5 to 11 at the McIntyre Arena and the McIntyre Curling Club in Timmins, Ontario. Timmins was originally scheduled to host the 2021 edition of the event, however, it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Ontario. It was also set to host the 2022 event before it was postponed and later moved to Oakville, Ontario. This was the fifth edition of the Canadian U18 Curling Championships. The inaugural edition was held in Moncton, New Brunswick in 2017 and was again held in New Brunswick in Saint Andrews in 2018. After the 2019 event in Sherwood Park, Alberta, the U18 nationals were cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Sherwood Park
Sherwood Park is a large hamlet in Alberta, Canada within Strathcona County that is recognized as an urban service area. It is located adjacent to the City of Edmonton's eastern boundary, generally south of Highway 16 (Yellowhead Trail), west of Highway 21 and north of Highway 630 (Wye Road).
