Canadian Theatre Review
The ''Canadian Theatre Review'' is a quarterly magazine publishing critical analysis and coverage of current theatre developments, expanding the practice of criticism in Canadian theatre. It is published by the University of Toronto Press and is available in print and online. The Canadian Theatre Review was founded by Don Rubin. Theatre
Theatre or theater is a collaborative form of performing art that uses live performers, usually actors or actresses, to present the experience of a real or imagined event before a live audience in a specific place, often a stage. The performers may communicate this experience to the audience through combinations of gesture, speech, song, music, and dance. Elements of art, such as painted scenery and stagecraft such as lighting are used to enhance the physicality, presence and immediacy of the experience. The specific place of the performance is also named by the word "theatre" as derived from the Ancient Greek θέατρον (théatron, "a place for viewing"), itself from θεάομαι (theáomai, "to see", "to watch", "to observe"). Ulrich's Periodicals Directory (, and ) is the standard library directory and database providing information about popular and academic magazines, scientific journals, newspapers and other serial publications. The print version has been published since 1932, and was founded by Carolyn F. Ulrich, chief of the periodicals division of the New York Public Library as ''Periodicals Directory: A Classified Guide to a Selected List of Current Periodicals Foreign and Domestic''. Scopus is Elsevier's abstract and citation database launched in 2004. Scopus covers nearly 36,377 titles (22,794 active titles and 13,583 inactive titles) from approximately 11,678 publishers, of which 34,346 are peer-reviewed journals in top-level subject fields: life sciences, social sciences, physical sciences and health sciences. It covers three types of sources: book series, journals, and trade journals. Microsoft Academic Search was a research project and academic search engine retired in 2012. It relaunched in 2016 as Academic. History Microsoft launched a search tool called Windows Live Academic Search in 2006 to directly compete with Google Scholar. It was renamed Live Search Academic after its first year and then discontinued two years later. In 2009, Microsoft Research Asia Group launched a beta tool called Libra in 2009, which was for the purpose of algorithms research in object-level vertical search, data mining, entity linking, and data visualization. Libra was redirected to the MAS service by 2011 and contained 27.2 million records for books, conference papers, and journals. The University of Toronto Press is a Canadian university press founded in 1901. Although it was founded in 1901, the press did not actually publish any books until 1911. The press originally printed only examination books and the university calendar. Its first scholarly book was a work by a classics professor at University College, Toronto.
