Canadian Country Spotlight
The ''Canadian Country Spotlight'' is a weekly, one-hour country music spotlight program. ''Canadian Country Spotlight'' focuses and highlights Canadian country talent. It's played weekly on country music radio stations all across Canada. The show launched on Labour Day weekend 2011. The show has featured Jason McCoy, George Canyon, Gord Bamford, Paul Brandt and many other Canadian country stars. Canadian Country Spotlight Minute In addition to the one-hour feature program, the ''Canadian Country Spotlight'' also includes a Monday-Friday 'Spotlight Minute' feature. The Spotlight Minute contains a one-minute segment with the week's featured artist. There are also social media links on the website and online music purchases are available. Country Music
Country (also called country and western) is a genre of popular music that originated in the Southern and Southwestern United States in the early 1920s. Jason McCoy
Jason McCoy (born Jason Dwight Campsall on August 27, 1970) is a Canadian country singer-songwriter. He has won the 2001 Male Vocalist of the Year at the Canadian Country Music Awards, 3 SOCAN Song of the Year awards, 19 CCMA nominations and 5 Juno nominations (all for Best Country Male Vocalist). He also won six awards at the 2004 Ontario Country Performer and Fan Association awards. In 2006, he was awarded the Global Artist Award at the CMA Awards in Nashville. McCoy was also one of the three members of the group The Road Hammers, which has released two studio albums, in addition to charting four singles in Canada and one in the United States before parting ways in 2010. George Canyon
George Canyon (born Frederick George Lays, August 22, 1970) is a Canadian country music singer. He was the runner up on the second season of ''Nashville Star'' in 2004. He grew up in Fox Brook, Pictou County, Nova Scotia before he moved west to Calgary, Alberta. He also holds an appointment in the Canadian Forces as the Colonel Commandant of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets. Biography George Canyon has held many jobs: he spent time working as a bylaw enforcement officer/special constable, a slaughterhouse beef inspector, and the owner/operator of his own recording studio. Gord Bamford
Gord Bamford (born April 17, 1976) is an Australian-Canadian country music singer. He has released ten studio albums. Alberta-raised Bamford stands as one of the most decorated artists in Canadian country music with 26 Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) awards, along with multiple JUNO nominations. Additionally, Bamford is one of two multi-time winners of Nashville's Country Music Association (CMA) Global Country Artist of the Year award, along with The Shires. Paul Brandt
Paul Rennée Belobersycky (born July 21, 1972), known professionally as Paul Brandt, is a Canadian country music artist. Growing up in Calgary, he was a pediatric RN at the time of his big break. In 1996, he made his mark on the country music charts with the single "My Heart Has a History", propelling him to international success and making him the first male Canadian country singer to reach the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in the United States since Hank Snow in 1974. Ted Roop
Ted Roop is a Canadian radio and media personality, and one of the presenters of ''Roop, Wix and Meg In The Morning'', which has been broadcasting on ''104.1 The Dock ( CICZ-FM)'' since March 3, 2008. Roop is also Director of Programming for The Dock's parent company, Larche Communications, which has three other broadcasting licenses.
