Canada At The Hopman Cup
Canada has competed at the Hopman Cup tennis tournament on four occasions, in 2004, 2014, 2015 and 2018. In 2004, the team of Maureen Drake and Frank Dancevic was defeated in the qualification play-off and as such did not compete in the round robin, except to stand in for the injured Belgium team for the final round robin tie against Hungary. Milos Raonic and Eugenie Bouchard represented Canada in 2014 and finished second in Group A. Bouchard represented Canada once again in 2015, this time with Vasek Pospisil, and ranked second in Group A for the second straight year. 2014 Hopman Cup
The Hopman Cup XXVI (also known as the Hyundai Hopman Cup for sponsorship reasons) corresponded to the 26th edition of the Hopman Cup tournament between nations in men's and women's tennis. The tournament commenced on 28 December 2013 at the Perth Arena in Perth, Western Australia. Eight teams competed for the title, with two round robin groups of four, from which the top team of each group progress to the final. Spain were the 2013 champions. In that tournament's final the Spain team of Anabel Medina Garrigues and Fernando Verdasco defeated Serbia's Ana Ivanovic and Novak Djokovic 2–1. This was Spain's fourth Hopman Cup title. The Hopman Cup XXVII was the 27th edition of the Hopman Cup tournament between nations in men's and women's tennis. The tournament commenced on 4 January 2015 at the Perth Arena in Perth, Western Australia. Eight teams competed for the title, with two round robin groups of four, from which the top team of each group advanced to the Final. France were the 2014 champions. In that tournament's final the French team of Alizé Cornet and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga defeated Poland 2–1, but they failed to defend their title. Agnieszka Radwańska recorded an impressive win over Serena Williams in the final, ultimately carrying the Polish team to their first Hopman Cup title with a 2–1 victory over the United States. Eugenie Bouchard
Eugenie "Genie" Bouchard (; french: Eugénie Bouchard, ; born February 25, 1994) is a Canadian tennis player. At the 2014 Wimbledon Championships, she became the first Canadian-born player representing Canada to reach the final of a Grand Slam tournament in singles, finishing runner-up to Petra Kvitová. The Hopman Cup is an international eight-team indoor hardcourt tennis tournament that played mixed-gender teams on a country-by-country basis.It was held in Perth, Western Australia each year from 1989 to 2019, before being replaced on the calendar in 2020 by the now defunct ATP Cup. It is set to return in July 2023 in Nice, France. Maureen Elizabeth Drake (born March 21, 1971) is a Canadian former professional tennis player. Her career-high WTA singles ranking is No. 47, which she reached on September 13, 1999. Her career-high doubles ranking is No. 77, set on October 30, 2006. After Drake qualified for the round of 16 at the 1999 Australian Open, there was no Canadian to reach the fourth round of a Grand Slam event until Aleksandra Wozniak at the French Open in 2009.
