Canadian Olympic Committee
The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC; french: Comité olympique canadien) is a private, non-profit organization that represents Canada at the International Olympic Committee (IOC). It is also a member of the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO). Ken Laufman
Kenneth Laufman (born January 30, 1932) is a Canadian ice hockey centre who competed in the 1956 Winter Olympics and 1960 Winter Olympics. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Laufman was a member of the Kitchener-Waterloo Dutchmen who won the bronze medal for Canada in ice hockey at the 1956 Winter Olympics and the silver medal for Canada in ice hockey at the 1960 Winter Olympics. Verne Anderson
Verne R. Anderson (19 July 1937–October 1984) was a Canadian alpine ski competitor and coach. He was a member of Canada's first national ski team competing in one Winter Olympics, and was head coach of the Canadian team at a subsequent Winter Olympics. Anderson was born in Nelson, British Columbia, and was a member of Canada's first national ski team formed in 1959. He was a member of the Canadian team at the 1960 Winter Olympics held at Squaw Valley, California competing in all three alpine skiing disciplines for men. He placed 19th in slalom with a time of 2:29.3, 24th in giant slalom with a time of 1:56.1, and 22nd in downhill with a time of 2:15.9. The men's ice hockey tournament at the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley, United States, was the ninth Olympic Championship, also serving as the 27th World Championships and the 38th European Championships. The United States won its first Olympic gold medal and second World Championship. Canada, represented for the second time by the Kitchener-Waterloo Dutchmen, won the silver and Canada's ninth consecutive Olympic ice hockey medal (a feat not matched until the Soviet Union won its ninth consecutive medal in 1988). The Soviet Union (the highest finishing European team) won the bronze medal and its sixth European Championship. Harry Sinden
Harry James Sinden (born September 14, 1932) is a Canadian former ice hockey player, coach, and executive. He served as a coach, general manager, and team president for the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL), and was the coach of Team Canada during the 1972 Summit Series. He is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame in the builders category. Playing career Sinden played defence for the Toronto Marlboros bantams before moving up to the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey Association for junior hockey. He played in Oshawa from 1949 to 1953, and then for six seasons in the OHA senior division with the Whitby Dunlops. George Samolenko
George R. Samolenko (born December 20, 1930), later known as George Samsen, is a Canadian former ice hockey player who competed and won a silver medal in the 1960 Winter Olympics. He was born in Oshawa, Ontario. Career From 1947 to 1949, Samolenko played with the Winnipeg Monarchs. Afterward, he moved to the Ontario Junior Hockey League where he played two seasons with the Oshawa Generals. He decided to play with the Eastern Ontario Hockey League, spending his first season with the Kingston Goodyears. In 1956, Samolenko joined the Whitby Dunlops He received an Allan Cup, which got his team in a position to play in the 1958 World Ice Hockey Championships. Bobby Rousseau
Joseph Jean-Paul Robert Rousseau (born July 26, 1940) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey right winger who played in the National Hockey League (NHL), most notably for the Montreal Canadiens. He won the Calder Memorial Trophy in 1962 as NHL rookie of the year. Playing career Early career Rousseau started his career with the St. Jean Braves of the Quebec Junior Hockey League in 1955-56 where he led the league in scoring with 53 goals and 85 points in 44 games.
