''Canada Songs'' is the debut studio album by American rock band Daughters, released on August 12, 2003 through Robotic Empire. Re-release In 2016 Robotic Empire reissued a limited edition version of ''Canada Songs'' on cassette. The track list also included the four tracks from Daughters' debut EP, ''Daughters'' as bonus tracks. Reception Mat Hocking May of Drowned in Sound stated the album is "It’s nothing short of intense" and "a rabid cut ‘n’ slash firebomb of splintered art-core and lacerating guitar shrieks". May also praises Daughters' approach to the album saying "Daughters’ chaotically freeform approach reconfigures the way melody and noise is assimilated through some of the most fiercely challenging experimentation probably ever attempted." Kerrang called the band a "A seditious delight" and stated "When you play chaotic art-core at blistering speed, there's a fine line between being inventive and exhilarating and being vapid and pointless. Daughters is an American rock band formed in 2002, in Providence, Rhode Island. The band's current line-up consists of vocalist Alexis Marshall, guitarist Nicholas Andrew Sadler, drummer Jon Syverson, and bassist Samuel Moorehouse Walker. The band started out as a grindcore outfit, developing their sound with each album, with later albums often described as noise rock. In 2018 the band signed to Ipecac Records and released the album '' You Won't Get What You Want'', which released to universal critical acclaim, with many critics naming it one of the best albums of the year. Grindcore is an extreme fusion genre of heavy metal and hardcore punk that originated in the mid-1980s, drawing inspiration from abrasive-sounding musical styles, such as thrashcore, crust punk, hardcore punk, extreme metal, and industrial. Terrorizer is an American grindcore band formed in 1986 in Los Angeles, California. After disbanding, its members gained recognition by playing in influential extreme metal bands, such as Morbid Angel ( David Vincent, Pete Sandoval), Napalm Death (Jesse Pintado) and Nausea (Oscar Garcia, Alfred "Garvey" Estrada).
