The Edgewater Casino is a former casino that was located at 760 Pacific Blvd South Vancouver, British Columbia. It was in operation from 2005 to 2017. History The Edgwater Casino opened in February 2005. In 2006, the casino was acquired by Paragon Gaming who would manage it for more than ten years. In September 2006, the company purchased the bankrupt casino for $43 million. The casino was closed on September 29, 2017. This was the same day that across the street, the Parq Vancouver opened its doors. Statistics In 2013, it generated $6.6 million for the city. In 2014 it was $7.2 million. In 2015, it was $8.3 million and 2016 it was $8.6 million. At one stage, the casino was the only licensed venue of its type in the city. The Edgewater Hotel and Casino is a casino hotel on the banks of the Colorado River in Laughlin, Nevada, owned and operated by Golden Entertainment. Paragon Gaming is a gaming company based in Enterprise, Nevada that owns and manages casinos in the United States and formerly in Canada. History Paragon Gaming was founded in 2000 by cousins Diana Bennett and Scott Menke, who were experienced gaming executives and the daughter and nephew, respectively, of prominent casino owner William Bennett. The company began working with American Indian tribes, seeking opportunities to develop tribal casinos. Originating in Finland in 2003 with 7 countries, the Karaoke World Championships are an international karaoke competition, featuring approximately 30 countries worldwide. USA holds 5 gold medals in solo category. Australia, Panama, Lebanon and UK are tied for the second most solo golds, with three each. National trials are conducted in each participating country every year with the winners competing in the international finals for the title of Karaoke World Champion. In 2003-2017 KWC had separate categories for male and female contestants. The 2016 competition introduced the Duet category and in 2018 gender categories were removed. Extra categories in KWC have included KWC Juniors (2017) and Champions Round (2018). Finland was the host country for the international finals from 2003 until 2005.
