Pará
Pará is a Federative units of Brazil, state of Brazil, located in northern Brazil and traversed by the lower Amazon River. Tuna Luso Brasileira, commonly referred to as Tuna Luso, is a Brazilian professional football club based in Belém, Pará founded on 1 January 1903. It competes in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série D, the fourth tier of Brazilian football, as well as in the Campeonato Paraense, the top flight of the Pará state football league. History Tuna Luso was founded initially as a musical band. It occurred because the Portuguese cruiser ''Dom Carlos'' was going to visit the port of Belém on November 12, 1902. Some Portuguese youths, residing in the city, decided to found a musical band to receive their fellow countrymen. The name they chose to the band was Tuna Luso Caixeiral. Tuna means popular orchestra, Luso means Portuguese, and Caixeiral means commerce employee. Paragominas Futebol Clube, or Paragominas, as they are usually called, is a Brazilian football team from Paragominas in Pará, founded on March 6, 2012. Paragominas is currently ranked seventh among Pará teams in CBF's national club ranking, at 140th place overall. History The club was founded on March 6, 2012. According to the president of the club at the time, Jorge Coqueiro, because he did not want the newly opened stadium of the city, Arena do Município Verde, which had been inaugurated in January, "abandoned " due to the lack of a club in the region to represent him. In its first year of foundation, the team won the Campeonato Paraense Second Division. The following year, in the main division, Paragominas defeated Remo in the final of the second round of the Campeonato Paraense, and made the final of the championship against Paysandu. History On January 3, 1944, a committee formed by David Nathanael Valdomiro Pinto and Gerson Marino went to the house of Odorico Reis de Almeida and invited him to assume the presidency of the club, for which he already showed their sympathy publicly.
